It's old news, but since it doesn't seem to have been discussed here while I have been gone I feel I have to bring it up
The director of TdF said that they would not allow any still-not-cleaned Puerto-inplicated riders to start. Basso has been "cleaned", but has not taken a DNA-test, so that could maybe include him, too.
Also, Bruynell said that Basso would be the leader for the Giro, and Leipheimer is the leader for the Tour. |

I don't think Basso will get to race the Giro. The latest news is that he's pulling out of Fleche Wallone and LBL this week because investigators want a DNA sample to test against blood from Fuentes' office that is linked to him. If he's not clean, he'll probably refuse this request and will most likely be banned from the Giro. If he's clean, he may still refuse to submit DNA for various reasons, and this could lead to the same result. So it looks bad for him (and his fans). |

last year he said that if anyone demanded a DNA test from him he would quit professional cycling immediately. |

This article gives a good description of the state of Basso's case as it exists today:

I'm sure things will continue to evolve rapidly. |

Indeed, this is really nice. Looks like it's the end for Mr. Basso

I'm more inclined to see how the testing goes. I haven't read the gory details of the Puerto case and so I don't know specifically what evidence they have against which riders. Certain riders seem to have more evidence against them than others (i.e. Ullrich, Basso, Jackshe). But it looks like they nailed Ullrich to the wall with DNA testing. So that would suggest that if the Birillo blood is Basso's and they can get a DNA sample from him, then he will be finished. I'll wait to see how the test comes out before I decide about Basso's guilt or innocence. |

to be honest i have always thought that Landis was a doper, but i was sure that Basso was clean, now i'm dissapointed in him, because he was a very promising cyclist and could've been the best with practise rather than drugs |

He's been suspended because the Italian Olympic Authoritys have reopened his doping case.
Read more about that here:

i wonder who's blood is in the bag marked ValPiti, also agree with a previous comment that only Ullrich, Basso and Jaksche are getting a rough time over this. |

www.cycling4all.com
has copies of original documents. Click on doping news on left side.
Scroll down to the:
* copy of a document of the Guardia Civil of 29th June 2006
* copies of some original documentes of Dr. Fuentes
links.
Click on those and see copies of some of the documents they found.
As you can see, the evidence they have is absolutely devastating. Especially against Tyler Hamilton. |
