I read a story where it was unknown who had died but it does seem like it could be Mcrae. I hope it isnt him
Whoever it is though, its sad news

honestly, I don't care who it was. McRae or Joe Bloggs. who cares. someone died. that's bad. let's hope there's just one body in that helicopter.

Basically says that he is known as a keen helicopter pilot and 2 people are believed to have been killed near his property. No confirmnation will be given until tomorrow.
Also that the damage was so bad they cant tell how many were onboard.

its a tragedy, he is both a national icon, and a local hero for me because he lives only 5 miles away from my home. I saw the smoke and the search helicopter yesterday...it was so shocking when I found out who it was. RIP Colin McRae, you're an absolute legend and will never be forgotten. |

Now this is just a huge coincidence, but Mcrae's boss also has just suffered a plane crash, but has walked away unhurt:

actually, Richards hasn't had anything to do with rallying in ten years. he's busy getting the Prodrive F1 team ready for it's 2008 debut (supposedly using McLaren cars)
