CrueTrue
Uhm ... they have a positive test. If that's not prove enough, I don't know what is.

So.. CAS cannot prove that Contador actually did dope himself, and yet we still get a 2 year ban?

He tested positive and as far as I know it's enough for ban.

Still np proper details.

and the UCI won't comment any further... helpful.

BBC saying it's backdated and ends 6th August 2012.
edit: Sky News seem to be rolling with that now too (having previously being unsure)

I know, but what is that info based on? I want to see the actual source for myself Wink

Contador should have said the meat came from Mexico! Also can anyone explain why the ban ends August 5th/6th, I thought the UCI informed him at the end of August?

And yet, you wont see that happening in any other sport than cycling. The positive test does not prove anything. Yes, its a postive test, but the amount found has absolutely no effect on a riders performance.

I think it must end like:
a)back-dated and Conta looses his titles
b) starting from now and the titles remains

It would be the double punishment to ban him from now and strip him from his titles.
However i am very sad, because i believe in his innocence. I may be stupid, but i think he had no reason to dope, he is the best without it. Guilty or not, i will miss him at the Tour a lot, it will be half a race without him.Sad
I'll be back

It is a banned substance, therefore they are within their rights to sanction him.

If you use it in the off season then you can lose weight.

If you have blood removed in the off season for blood transfusion purposes, then Clenbuterol can still be there.

If you have a blood transfusion on a rest day with this blood then Clenbuterol can still be in your system.

So, Contador may have used Clenbuterol in the off season then re-infused the blood iwth trace amounts in it, which would explain the heightened number of plasticisers in his blood as well.

You wouldn't even be defending him, had he not been riding for Saxo Bank Wink

Anyway, the rules are very, very clear: If there's too much of a banned substance in your body, you're banned. A positive test proves that you have used doping. What more do you need?

I dont care if he is riding for Saxo Bank or not. I dont really care if its Contador or some random rider. The fact that you can ban any rider in a case like this, just proves how retarded the system is. Hell, half the players at the U-17 World Cup in Mexico tested positive for the exact same substance, and yet you dont see any bans here.

can contador appeal this Decision?or is that final.

CrueTrue
There's a difference. Mexico is known for its tainted meat, thus the players could prove or at least make their stories probable. Spain, however, is a whole different case, and CAS has now ruled against Contador's meat story.

Edit: Besides, why compare with sports that are hiding up doping?

How do you know?

Because he is the best stage-racer since 2008, or he was doping since back then? And i say honestly i am biased a lot, he brought me so many positive emotions that even all the rest of riders together cant beat it...

There's no way of knowing when he started doping, just that he was doing so now and hence any previous years are now tainted, like proverbial meat.

That's because football is big business, cycling isn't.

So 2 years ban starting from January 2011 and all the titles from 2011 removed+2010 TdF title removed if understand correctly?
I'll be back

CrueTrue
Ban starts on 25th of January 2011 and runs two years, so he's banned until 25th of January 2013.

Tour and all 2011 results annulled.

Meh, I hate backdated bans. But I'll take that it's not too bad.
