Well, the 280W will be close to 190 bpm. My max HR on the bike is about 193.

160W is around 120-135bpm.
200W is around 130-150bpm
240W is around 150-170bpm
280 is yeah, upto 190bpm depending on how long I'm pushing it for.

How unsuprizing, that shows your much better then me Pfft

But I only started cycling last year May, so I have an excuse! Pfft

Good excuse Grin I'm always comparing myself to others who are better than me. I use it as my motivator.

Well, for now my motivation is 150km of Amstel Gold Race that I'm gonna have to do April 17th Pfft
I will need some proper training to be able to do that. Longest ride I've done so far was c. 110km(end of last season). And that was on flat roads Pfft

So now, first built up my condition after the winter months and then quickly built up for loads of hilly terrain. Pfft

After that come my exams. After that I may consider to go get with a club and start doing races. Not sure if I'll be able to keep up though. Most guys will probably have cycled much longer then me and I've no idea how much better they are then me and how long it would take me to be able to do a race with guys of my age at over 40km/h avarage.

Racing wise - you gotta start somewhere!
First year I was dropped every single race. Every one. Second year, I could finish in the bunch. Third year I was doing better still. Last year, I could finally attack for the full two hours in my own category of races if I so wished. But I'm still just "finishing" the races with the elites. Survival.

I wouldn't worry too much about ensuring you can do the distance - it's more about training hours per week you put in.

My first year of uni, I didn't train much the first 2 months, so I decided I'd ride home the 140 miles (200-210ish km) on one day. It took me 9 and a half hours, and the last 30 miles took about 3 hours to do. Distance isn't an issue, finishing it feeling happy, however, might be Pfft

Yeah, I was kinda thinking that. This would be a good year for me to start racing though. Last year I'll be able to race with the Juniors. Should be a fair bit easier to get used to racing with Juniors then with U23.

That last is is indeed what concerns me a bit Pfft
I wouldnt want to be crawling up the Cauberg Pfft (I do have a triple though, 30-27 is the smallest gear I've got XD)

yeah, as long as you have the motivation and the nejoyment it doesn't matter. and rjc, don't put yourself down, 140 miles is about 225km

rjc_43
Really? Well, just shows why I ride my bike and don't do maths... Pfft

If you're a last year junior, I envy your position. I wish I could go back 3-4 years and be where I am now, then. Just without the crashes and injuries...

Make the most of it- enter all the junior only races you can. I wish i had...

it´s my first year as a junior as well but i started racing just one year ago and only finish 50% of my races but this season will be better i hope (last year only place 12 as best result and a crash- otherwise i would have made the top 5)

my motivation is a bit down at the moment because i did 600km inside and now here is snow againSad

Did a Lactic Threshold and VO2 max test today. Lactic Threshold was at 330 watts or so and VO2 max was 65.4. I am happy with that considering I have been on bike for 2 weeks! Hope to do another one at the end of season.

Well, i had my first race of the year Sunday. A weird one.

It had 111km and at km3 a dog crossed the road and a crash happend. Only 23 escaped and they got in a escape. Almost every team there, so, the escape finished with 5 minutes to the peloton. Too bad that our rider there didn't have the legs for the final sprint and finished 19th.

As for myself, i did a lot of work for my leaders ( 1st year Junior seems to be hard Pfft ) and i finished with the main bunch. The race had loads of crosswinds which splitted the pack many times but it all came together for the sprint for the 24th place Banana .

I have been piddling around with my partially built new bike(waiting on brakes from TRP, and a few small things) so I put some 105 brakes on and rode it around. First Impressions of SRAM after racing Shimano for the past 4 years, Sweet. the doubletap shifting is awesome, loud, but it'll be perfect in a sprint.

Isn't it great?

But why TRP? Personally I think their stuff is shit (granted I only rode on some of their brakes once and for a 20sec ride down a street.)

TRP because we got a great deal on them

and they look sweet, AND they match my anodized red ceramic bottom bracket

So I finished up my bike last night-the brakes I still haven't gotten yet (so I have some 105 brakes I jacked from my brother).

I stepped back to look at it and jizzed in my pants.

Well it's pissing rain here, and therefore unlikely he will notice until it stops raining, and he actually goes on a ridePfft

Having now facebook stalked you... do you ever race anything other than crits? On wide wide wide roads? Or is that all the American scene is about? Or did you just plan roads better as a country to be a reasonable size? Can you answer all those questions in one breath?
