i did a one and a half hour ride today...
the temperatures were about -2°C so a bit of the water in my bottle became iceSmile

My new bike is starting to take shape. I've ordered, SRAM Force Derraileurs, Crank, Red Shifters. Seatpost, bottle cages, stem and Handlebars from VCRC. Brakes from TRP. Selle Italia Flite Team Edition White (from Wiggle).

The Frame is from LUMA. Don't be fooled it was made in the same factory, with the same molds and meterial, as a Trek Madone 6 series. The difference is paint.

would you recommend sram or shimano? i will get a new bike as well but don´t know which components

I have always used Shimano, and I'm not sure how well SRAM works, because I have yet to use it. My frame will be arriving Thursday, which hopefully means I can race it at the official season opener on sunday.

season openerShock?
here is about 40cm snow (more than a feet i think) and it is smelting during the day and gets to ice at night so even with a mtb you cannot make some training outsideSad

It's time to make my contribution.

This year is gonna be a bit relaxing for me. I'm Junior, 1st year, ( That's what we call in Portugal for 17/18 categories ) and i'm starting easily to reach my peak of form in July, when we have our nationals and Tour of Portugal Smile

Yup season opener. Cherry Pie criterium in Napa has been the opener for years in Northern California. There are races every weekend until september

Did my first outside ride of the year yesterday, but didnt go too well. There was quite a strong wind, and that combined with the relatively low temperature (I guess around 6 degrees), cause my muscles never to warm up. The first hour still went okay, but then I got cramps in my muscles. Tried to strech it out, but that wouldnt work. Still had to ride another hour then to get home.
Never got over 25km/h anymore Pfft
Will be waiting for some more sunney weather now Pfft

Well, outside is better than in! But being in means I get to train in Watts. I'm did today 10 mins @ 160W, 10m @ 200w, 10m @ 240w, then the sneaky 2 @ 280w, before knocking back down to 140W for another 8 mins as my little "warm down". Being inside a gym, "warm" was not an issue...

what´s your anaerobic barrier (don´t know if that is the right word but i hope you understand itWink) rjc_43?

rjc_43
This season, back in November (I hadnt trained since July, and had been hit off my bike by a car), my lactate threshold was around 230 +/- 10 watts.

I'm going to doing another VO2 max test in a few weeks, so I'll have another idea then, but last year, when I was possibly the fittest I've ever been, it was around 250 watts.

around 250-260 should be what i can do at the moment but i think with some training i should get 300 later this year....

rjc_43
Oh, wow, so you're signing pro in two years then?

not really...maybe i´m good enough to finish races in the bunch but i do not have any chance in most of the races- most of them are flat and there are always a lot of better rides thereSad

My sarcasm was clearly lost on the European population there...

How old are you? And do you actually have any idea or knowledge about human physiology, and it's relationships to performance?

Could you tell me at what heart rate your doing that? (if you even know that Pfft). Then I'd have at least something to compare my Tacx 'results' with Pfft

Take off lets say 20W of the 200 and 240 blocks and 30W of the 280 block and I think I migth be able to do that. (At high hart rate. probably close to 185 Pfft)

Well, the 280W will be close to 190 bpm. My max HR on the bike is about 193.

160W is around 120-135bpm.
200W is around 130-150bpm
240W is around 150-170bpm
280 is yeah, upto 190bpm depending on how long I'm pushing it for.
