according to a Deloitte&Touche study, the toughest european languages are polish because of the insane consonant combinations that aren't found in other languages
and portuguese because nearly every verb is irregular

EDIT: oh yes, and finnish is supposed to be the easiest. makes sense. from what I've heard of finnish, it al sounds the same, and since every finnish person sounds exactly the same when speaking english, I suppose it does make sense.

the justification they gave was that save rare exceptions, in finnish a certain letter ALWAYS has the same sound.

yes, that logic is flawless Grin

just listen to them speaking english. it's hilarious. no wonder it's called "penguin-speak"

all the words come out together and all in the same tone.

it's probably in all latin languages. usually all you have to do is insert certain stereotypical sounds at the end of words to be understood by the speaker of another latin language if you're a speaker of another one.

so it's probably in portuguese, spanish, french, italian and romanian.

anyway, the lehto guy is portuguese, so coming from him it's portuguese Pfft

Indeed, on the other hand, swedish is a weird language as well, but finnish is worse, I mean:

finnish: seinässäkö
swedish: i väggen

could be worse. you could be spanish and have 10 or more variations of the language depending on which region of the country you're in.

It wasn't the greatest thread to begin with - continue to hijack GrinGrinGrin

Oh, and for more regional variations, in Britain, it is widely considered by the English that the Scots must be speaking another language, cos their accents so thick you can't understand a word they say GrinGrinGrin
