Saturday's EuroFile: Bettini's bike stolen
By Agence France Presse
Filed: October 6, 2007
The bicycle Italy's Paolo Bettini rode to his second consecutive title at the world road race championships last Sunday has been stolen, the Ansa news agency reported on Saturday.
Thieves stole a total of 21 bicycles belonging to the Quick Step team and the van in which they were being stored overnight ahead of Saturday's Memorial Cimurri race between Parma and Bologna. The bicycles are estimated to be worth 150,000 euros ($212,000).
The team was able to assemble a collection of reserve bikes for Bettini and the team to use in the 183km race.
The 33-year-old was crowned world champion in Stuttgart last Sunday despite organizers trying to bar him from the competition, because he would not sign an anti-doping agreement to provide a compulsory blood sample.

Anyway, other news:
- Spain has decided not to deliver over the hard discs from the Operation Puerto to the German police. They can therefore not use the quite important evidence against Ullrich in his trial.
- Problems at Astana --- it's Kazakstan who got the Pro Tour-license, but it's Biver who got all the contracts with the riders. Therefore, if they fire Biver they also fire all their current riders
- Rasmussen has churped again. A team offered him a contract last week, but he said no, because UCI is currently investigating whether or not it will be possible to give him a 3rd warning and thereby give him a 2-year-suspension. He's going to have a meeting with UCI soon, and that will clarify if he can sign a contract for the next seasn or not.
He also said that the WC-route fitted him perfectly, and as the race turned out he would have been able to ride for medals, he said.
- Luca Ascani has been given a 2 year suspension for use of EPO |

Dumbarse Spanish authorities, wouldn't the truth be that they are afraid stuff would be found against other people than 58 mere cyclists on those hard drives ? :x |

They would probably find lots of stuff against not only the other sports people, but also about the Spanish cyclists who were involved (Valverde, Contador, ....) |

It's not like Fuentes was threatened to have his family murdered (and himself) if he said something about football teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and ??? either. Or is it ? |

I wouldn't know about any murder threats, but the other team mentioned was Sevilla.
show me someone who says that football players all around aren't doped and I'll show you someone who is very innocent and credulous. even golfers are doped up.

Also to redude their heart beat thanks to beta-blockers, etc. It adds accuracy to their swings (like for rifle shooters). |
