hey, I never said it was boring. just this stage has been boring so far. oh well...it ends on a short climb, so there should be some fireworks Smile

the least I can say is that this is annoying.

shows the lack of unity. right now we have two settings for measures. so there is a lot of suspicion on Contador, that's not the point.

point is:

either he can't ride any races, or he can ride them all. but having the higher authority say he can race and supposed subordinates not allowing him to just screams lack of a command structure.

nobody is in charge here. if there's evidence, prosecute him. if not, let him ride. in my book, all the suspicion is not fact no matter how credible all the team directors and journalists are.

but having separate judgements coming from different official entities is neither organized nor efficient. not to mention what it does to the credibility of the sport.

sorry if that's a rant, but I'm bored out of my wits with this Volta stage right now.

Of course, I have to agree with what you say. But on the other hand, I think the authorities should have done something to Contador long ago. I still don't get what happened with all the evidence which UCI said they had to begin with. Suddenly, it was gone. It's all so suspicious, and with Contador having been on Liberty Seguros it's more than likely that he was involved in Operation Puerto. UCI knows that, but for whatever reason they haven't done anything.

WADA has started an investigation, and according to the ethical codex Contador should be suspended now, but since Discovery don't care about ethics (and doping) they let him ride.

the same thing that happened to the evidence that was supposed to exist about Rafa Nadal and quite a few spanish league handball players.....poof....into thin air.

Franke says there's someone big protecting the riders. to say I've always doubted Franke is an understatement, and I never liked the guy in the slightest. but even I have to grudgingly admit that he's never been proved wrong. but he's been proved right quite a few times.

it's not like they haven't done anything. they haven't done anything public. and that is very different.

about Contador being involved or not, I have my own opinion, but let me keep it. whether he's guilty or innocent, I just hope it's settled correctly. that is my single desire for his situation.

all dopers being caught immediatelly would be the ideal scenario, but that's a pipe dream. not to mention it would probably mean most Italian, Spanish and Portuguese teams suddenly would have no riders.....not to mention the fact that it's

T-Mobile has decided to continue its sponsorship until 2010.

One of the main sponsors of Tour of Germany, Edeka, has decided that they don't want their logo in the tour. Instead of their logo, "Bleib sauber - Live clean" will be shown.

don't know where to put this really so i'll put it hereWink

The English cycling magazines have headlines in them syaing 'Is Cavendish better than McEwen?'Frown...well not really but they make a good case.

McEwen won 10 races in his 1st season but 3 of them were in the pro-am Sun Tour race in Australia and two others were criteriums.

All Cav's wins up to now have come in UCI-registered races including 2 in ProTour-registered events. He has also won the points jersey in the Four Days of Dunkirk, and Tour of Denmark.

He has been nicknamed 'Cannonball Cav' by his teamates at T-MO.

Cav says that he thinks it is the most successful debut season ever because some of McEwen's wins were in Australia, whereas all his have been in major races. He also says there is still more to come as he has a busy second half of the season, his next race is ENECO tour. He will also ride in the World Championships in Stuttgart.

His final race will be Paris-Tours.

as he stands now, he's the typical early developer, and judging from how this kind of athlete develops in pretty much every sport this can go one of three ways:

1. he can become a superstar.
2. he can bust spectacularly starting in 2008 or 2009
3. (most likely) he can become a superstar and at the early age of 27 or 28 suddenly become cack.

as always, it's completely unpredictable. on the one hand, he does have the confidence to succeed. on the other hand, even Hammond pointed out a few months ago that Cavendish has an attitude problem (very arrogant).

yes he is very arrogant in pre and post race interviews, but i hope that he will be a superstar (like most people) but as you say, it's impossible to tell how someone will develop

Hammond is right..he does have attitude problem. I like Cavedish I realy do...but compair some McEwen first season stats and he's. dont make any point and conclusion. Every rider blossom when its time for that. With those big talks he just put pressure on he's sholder...and most important thing. I always wanted to see new sprint star step up..but if all comes for important sprint we almost always see..some "old fish" winning it. Sprinting is not only about skills..
Young Mark should take it easy..he's time will come..and good luck.

In Italy a 55 year-old was caught for doping in an amateur race.

poor guy, it must be the end for him, since he'll be suspended until he's 57. surely he'll be too old to race then Grin Wink

It's now totally official. Tailwind Sports, the owner of Discovery Channel, will stop at the end of this season, meaning that all the riders will have to find new teams, etc.. Will be interesting to see where the riders will go.
