McQuaid has now also said what we were all thinking: Spain doesn't do enough about the doping issue. I'm surprised how open-mouthed he actually is.

it's surprising how truthfull those that crave only power can be when they realise they have no chance of staying in office for another term...

As expected, UCI gave the World Championship 2010 to Melbourne, Australia

The Canadian cycling federation has got themselves a problem: All their bikes for the World Championship was stolen last night Pfft
(And no, don't worry. They will ride - but on Gerolsteiner's bikes Wink)

Pat McQuaid is very angry at Bettini because he has still not signed the Anti Doping contract.

About half of the riders who signed ASO commitment thingy before the TDF rushed to their lawyers to make sure that had no legal value...
Valverde should have already given his blood for comparison purposes otherwise, based on that document he signed. Surprisingly (!) he didn't do it yet.
Bettini not signing it shows at least two things : where he stands against/for doping, and how much value that commitment has.

McQuaid just stated an obvious thing. You can have doubts about what's done against doping when a 200 names list becomes a list with 58 cyclists names, when a guy nickname is found and heard at a doctor specialised in doping but officials say there's nothing against him (maybe he's not guilty, but that deserves at least an investigation...).

And this is, as far as I've understood, UCI's plans for the new system:
img516.imageshack.us/img516/1564/uciwedstrijdener5.jpg

The Pro Tour races are the ones on the left, the ones at the bottom are the Continental races, and Tour de France is in its own block.

The Continental races will give points for the Pro Tour (50 % - I don't know of what, though, but probably 50 % compared to the Pro Tour races which will give 100 %), and the Tour de France will still give 100 % Pro Tour points.

So they'll still give PT points for races that don't want to have anything to do with the Pro Tour any more. How weird...

I'm sure teams willbe delighted to ride some of the new Pro Tour races... The main motivations for teams to be in Pro Tour was to be sure to get a TDF spot, which won't be case anymore.

every single time there's an agreement on something against doping, Bettini immediatelly professes to be against it and that he will "retire" if they force him. every time. that says something.

Plus his argument is bullshit. According to him giving his DNA is going too far in matters of privacy. It just takes giving some blood or saliva, which he does many times a year for controls, and it becomes nothing less than a bar code, wow, a rider must really feel his privacy is violated when there's some information about him under a bar code form.
What would it be if the UCI had his phone number, social security number or birth date, that's private informations as well. GrinSadFrown

Ages ago I said DNA was invading privacy - I have no idea why - if you've got nothing to hide, then there is no sane reason why you shouldn't give it to them Frown

According to Gazzetto dello Sport, Danilo Di Luca will be suspended for three months when Ettori Torri one of the following days decides to open a case against Di Luca. This also means he will miss the World Championship.

It's once again the Oil for Drugs scandale which is hunting Di Luca.

Cloning. He's afraid of thousands of little clones of himself running around.

Oh, wait.... you said sane.

After much careful consideration, I state that I have understood the mentioned post.

Seems like it was Bettini who delivered the doping to Sinkewitz. ZDF has found a document where it quotes Sinkewitz for saying that Italian riders helped him getting the products, including Bramati and Bettini.

Bramati? Whos he?

Davide Bramati, current Team Manager of Quickstep. Stopped his career after the Giro last year (2006). Before that he rode for Quickstep from 1997-2006, meaning that he rode together with Sinkewitz when he was at the team too.
