almost as funny as Ardila at the Vuelta two years ago....just not as incredibly moronic as the colombian...

Yes, this is turning into a nice thread. When you get down to it though, when you get rid of the doping (or just ignore it), cycling is a unique sport that is sheer joy to watch. Watching people push themselves to the limit for 5 hours a day, watching them as they grit their teeth, look up determined, and go on the attack, chase someone down amidst beautiful scenery, that is brilliant. Then, you always have to admire that they then get up the next day and do it all other again. And again. And again.
Not only is the simple awe I stand in when watching cycling because of their drive, but the sport is breathtaking when two riders battle it each other, or a great moment happens, it makes everyone sit up and watch. Who wasn't shocked when Miguel Indurain cracked. Who wasn't astounded by Lance Armstrong winning the Tour de France AGAIN after battling cancer. I have yet to find one who wasn't.
Cycling is such a beautiful sport, and everyone here is willing to wade through the doping just to glimpse those magical moments.
Or words to that effect

One thing recently don that i thought was very nice, was the crowds on the prologue TT, if someone who had never seen cycling before saw that then they would have been amazed.

Yes, a million people over 8 km, and then 2 million over the prologue...500,000 more than the population of Kent. My god it's going well for the Brits at the moment
