Biggest question for me is how he managed almost all time to be Giro GC good places..but in TdF almost terrible.. (Maybe its just different role to play?)
Same question about Popo..

I really wouldn't know. there can be a number of reasons. not least, the difference in competitive level from the Giro to the Tour.
as for Popo, I don't think he'll ever be one of the world's best climbers. one of the world's best all-rounders? no doubt. he's close to that right now, but a great climber he is not, and trying to become a pure GC rider will never work to the extent that he wants it to.

For me Popo was so promising rider in Armstrong era..when he won white jearsey in TdF. So far I hoped that now he will blast (I dont expected that he wins some big tours ..somewhere close on final GC had enough for me)...but he have no chanche eather. After this year Giro I have given up.

No I dont think so..he should be Basso's helper on the Giro..after Basso's another "bucket" he was promoted for team captain.
In TdF they have beside Popo already Danielson, Contador and GC contender Leipheimer. Also in team probably Gusev,Hincapi,Martinez,Devolder |

yes, but I don't think he was in top form. he's probably only supposed to be top for the Tour.

It seems like Popovych has changed goals. Before, he trained to become a new Armstrong - today, it more seems like he wants to be a great classics-man. We should focus a lot more on Contador, I think. |

I hope not. it would be horrible for Andy to remember his first big win as being such a sad memory.

yes, that would be awful for him (but only if he gets this huge rider as he is estimated to get) |

I believe that every one of the TOP-RIDERS are doped some way or another. But I really don't care about it.. Instead of detroying the cycle-sport with these scandals all the time they should just accept the fact that doping will always be in sports and particular cycling.
If they just legalize it, it would be the same for every rider and they would compete on equal terms. Then it's just who is in the best shape who will win.
And Cycling is still exciting eventhough they are doped right ?? |

Disagree. There is no reason to doing that. It doesn't match the sports spirit and it is unfair.
Riders won't work harder and we will watch to the winner as the rider that has the better doping program.
No, no...never give a chance in this situations.

Yep that kind of win dont taste like Giro win should be. Remember Pereiro...as now we know that Landis is dirty as human can be..he still dont like call himself as TdF winner. |

another fact with doping is that it hurts the human body , so if thet were to allow doping the best riders would be those with the best and most advanced chemistry set , forth and forth . Many would push it to the limit and set their lives at stake to be No. 1
conclusion: please dont allow doping |

Like the current antidoping programs works huh ?? I like that people really believes in it but I personally thinks it's bullsh*t.
And doping can only give "you" the last 10 %.. So you still have to train hard and really work hard. For instance I couldn't win the TDF just because I take EPO. I probably wouldn't even be able to climb a 2. category mountain.
It's not physical possible to ride 21 days in a row (with 2 days rest) without some dope

And Cycling is still exciting eventhough they are doped right ?? Keep in mind a couple of things :
- Doping doesn't work the same for every one. Imagine both of us would be clean and have exactly the same level. Then we'd start the same doping program, and keep training the same. It's unlikely that we would react to the dope in the very same way.
How fair would it be to legalise doping then ?
- Doping hurts dope heads bodies on the mid or long term. Many of them will get various cancers, diseases, etc. Did you ever read about Gianni Bugno ? Or Berzin ?
You can't wish the same thing for other cyclists, unless you're a sadistic bastard, but you're not one, are you ?
Another thing : in my country, the health system is financed by the nation. With my money then. I don't want to pay for guys who will destroy their own body on purpose, in order to gain shitloads of money that I'd never earn in 5 lives.
- Would you force guys who don't want to poison themselves to take dope too ? Or would you tell those guys that it's fair that some others take pills to be stronger than them ? That's not the spirit of sport, I reckon. |
