Everyone is entitled to his opinion and what might sound suprising to you - not only in America. It's a safe bet that Leipheimer won't win the Tour. He might be able to reach Top5 if he's at 100%.
I'm sorry but winning time trials at the ToC or even the entire ToC isn't exactly a worthy benchmark. It's not even a ProTour event and the only ones really trying are American cyclists and teams for all the other ProTour teams it's just not worth the effort.

The Tour de Georgia dn the Tour of California are as Pro Tour as they can get until the UCI decides to grant Pro Tour status to races outside of Europe. If Levi has absolutely no chance at the top spot on the podium who does? This could turn into an intersting thread, making TdF predictions in April. |

It doesnt make a difference what UCI level the races are, its not ProTour so not many ProTour teams will go and as both races are 2 early season races, it will only be the Americans that do their best to win.
Ill stick with my predictios on my TdF article:
1. Vinokourov
2. Valverde
3. Sastre
4. Schleck
5. Menchov
6. Evans
7. Leipheimer
8. Moreau
9. Rogers
You are obviously biased towards leipheimer, while I certainly have no British riders to support that could win Le Tour.

@Sporting: Alright, I'm German but don't you think Klöden has a chance to hit top 5 or even top 3?

Klöden would not have signed with Astana as a TdF domestique for Vino. I'm sure Astana would prefer to have Vinokourov as the leader (and winner), but it's safe to say they will start with 2 leaders.

well isn't it a touch strange that Kloden would've been team leader for the Tour at T-Mobile but left to join Vino at Astana when from all reports they didn't get on, I'm sure it's nothing to do with T-Mobile's new anti-doping policy

Indeed not.
A rumour is going about that Valverde was about to sign for T-Mobile until he found out about this new policy. Anyone else heard about that?

I just finished watching the Live Arbitration Hearing in the Floyd Landis case. I can honoestly say that i think that Landis has won this part of his battle. Just as incompetent as the French lab was made out to be, the USADA representative seemed like he had his head up his ass |

I don't think anyone really cares about the landis case anymore. Even a sci geek like me has lost interest.
However, judging from the scientific data presented, I do believe he cheated. Phonak has had some cheaters caught. Whether he knowingly cheated, is something else. The USADA case believes he used the testosterone gel. Who's to say it wasn't mixed in with something else that he took. Hell, if his manager can make stupid phone calls...
One last thought on this matter, testosterone is still child's play compared to actual blood doping. |
