What would you guys suggest replacing the pro tour with?
Personally I'd like to keep some sort of "league" where GC & Classics riders can compete against each other. As well as having a team competition.
However, I appreciate that it's pointless sending Euskatel to roubaix (or a french team to the TDF )
What about the option of allowing the "Pro tour" teams to withdraw from some pro tour races (perhaps making them compete in a minimum number), thus allowing more wild cards.
I appreciate that the GTs will want more teams in from their own country, but for the good of cycling worldwide the best riders should be given a chance to ride. |

perhaps Euskatel will become so incensed about all these comments that they shouldnt compete in the paris roubaix and begin to train solely for the cobbles

I think Aquarius definitely has the right idea - the number of ProTour teams has got to be lowered so more wild cards can be offered - however, they should still have the right to enter all PT races, but don't have to - problem is, how do you then score

I just hope cyanide leaves the system the way it is.

I'm just saying what is a point in a ProTour without an actual league. Then it's just an elite group who get special privileges

True. But does a cycling league really make much sense ?
Such as it has been case already, to me the answer is clear : no, it doesn't make any sense.

But will the UCI ever admit that. No, they won't, so it'll stay for a while

But it's already case : how many teams give a damn about where they're ranked in the PT classification ? The first one, and possibly the second one if they stand a chance to get first. That's about all, I reckon.
Same for the riders. Except for Di Luca and Evans, did any rider say he was riding to get a better PT classification this year ? I don't think so (doesn't mean it's case, eh), they aim for the races and their fame, rather than the PT points.
Now, will UCI ever realise that ? One can hope, but not too much. |

Exactly - the ProTour is a defunct system - it is not needed anymore

I think cylcing needs a superleague without the 3 GT but like with max 15 teams and 5 team to get wildcards one relegating every year one coming every year but the team resserving their right to come or not on the league races like why the heck euskaltel to come at P-R or FDJ to poland....

I like the idea of promotion and relegation, but i fear the need to either get into the pro tour, or stay there, would see doping increase.

That just won't happen - relegation can't occur, because of the financial consequences of relegation

Yes but it's good think about how CT will be a rider like Lokvist Danielson maybe Steegmans will go there as a leader and the team will invest if the promote
And if you relegate it's because the poor management if you sign good riders you can't relegate
I think this is the best format
