Petacchi was absolutely horrible. He should have worked for Zabel instead.

Absolutely right. His team had control of the race at the end and he couldn't do zip. I read a blurb about this in cyclingnews.com:

"Even though Petacchi had made a return to racing at the Vuelta a Espana in September, he had to abandon the second Grand Tour that year as he unfortunately broke his hand when hitting a team bus out of frustration for the lack of results. His teammate, four-times Milan-San Remo winner Erik Zabel only had one comment when asked about the sprinting hierarchy at the famous Italian Classic: "It's part of my contract," he told Radsportnews, certainly disappointed about the team's results as well."

So I'll bet Zabel is pretty mad that he couldn't go for the win.

Still, it was a thrilling race. Vs. network in the US has a 2 hr Eurocycling wrapup show every Sunday so I'll get to watch parts of all the races this year! So I'll finally get to see what an actual Flanders-classic cobblestone race is like! I can't wait!

@Cmfos

You have something to look forward to. Paris Roubaix and Flandern is as much fun to watch as a mountain stage in a GT.
