Dekker is a far bigger talent then Cavendish, aside from that they're competely different type's of riders |

Although, you cant really compare a sprinter with a climber for stage race wins. For actual ProTour stage wins its 2-2, I believe. Dekker did probably beat stronger opposition though.
well cavendish did beat robbie mcewen in scheldeprijs vlaanderen
that ought to count
you can't really say who the better talent is
because cavendish is a sprinter and dekker is a classic/stage race rider

i think they are both big talents (but Dekker has had a bigger expectation of him), but i agree that track and road racing are completly different, and yes they are different types of riders so it is hard to compare them really |

Exactly Cavendish is more classy in sprints and classics/flat stuff and Dekker more in Hilly and Time Trial, I like them almost the same but because Cavendish is British i like him that bit more |

Pro Tour stage race wins, not stage wins...
If we add then it's 4-2 for Dekker, because apart from the Gc he also won the time trial in Romandie and in his 1st year (as 20 year old mind you!) he won the Climb TT in the Tour of Poland. |

As Ruben says theyre different types of riders so you cant really judge them.
Cavendish is by far the most promisng 22 year old sprinter and its between Dekker and Andy Schleck for most promising 22 year old climber + stage racer. I personally prefer Schleck.

because cavendish is a sprinter and dekker is a classic/stage race rider stage race riders are generally considered bigger riders...
Or do you think Mario Cipollini was a better rider than Lance Armstrong? Or even 1-tour winners like Pantani, Ullrich..?
Edit: however, Cavendish is the best sprinting talent in recent years.

Cavendish will get more wins because there is more flat then hilly stuff and Dekker will get more glory becasue he is riding in harder stuff.
Thats my view anyway. |

I must have been drunk when i wrote that
To be honest i Consider Dekker one of the biggest talents the cycling scene has seen in many years.
Hope he lives up to expectations and dont stop progressing...... |

you can never judge how much someone will progress. he certainly might win. but you can only judge retroactively.
remember Vandenbroucke? everyone was sure he'd dominate the classics for many years. did that happen?
the same thing can happen to Boonen, yet I bet no-one now can imagine Boonen being known in the future as just another Vandenbroucke

In Romandie he had no trouble climbing.... and that was 3 HC climbs, the same as here. He would've won that mountain stage too if Igor Anton didn't sprint like an idiot (diverted off his line) ... |
