Vinokourov told the French sports daily L'Equipe in Wednesday's edition that he had not cheated. "It's a mistake. I never doped, that's not the way I see my profession," the newspaper quoted him as saying. "I think it's a mistake in part due to my crash. I have spoken to the team doctors who had a hypothesis that there was an enormous amount of blood in my thighs, which could have led to my positive test."
Vinokourov claimed to be the victim of a "provocation." "It's been going on for months and today they're managing to demolish me," he said. "The setting up of our team made a lot of people jealous and now we're paying the price. It's a shame to leave the Tour this way, but I don't want to waste time in proving my innocence."
Good luck for him...we have to applaud for him. And welkome to the Floyd club who still proving that he is innocent. |

As there is no innocence to prove - it would be a big waste of time

notice this: the kazakhstani national television refuse to break the news to the country. as far as everyone there is concerned, the Tour will misteriously stop being broadcasted. today they re-ran Vino's last stage win...... |

How ridiculous
If Brown tried that here, he'd be out of power before you he could say "I'm better than Blair"

It's not been a good night for me - I'm getting slow, my use and detection of sarcasm has just disappeared and my pcm has decided working is no longer for it - I'll just slink off to bed, and hope tomorrow brings some improvement.
And if someone gets another post in before me, with sarcasm that I don't get, then I'm going to go crazy

Did you know...that Borat movie was censored in Kasahstan..also in his big brother Russia. Isnt this another sign (first - tour is on Vino doing well) of hypocrisy. |

However, there is a bright side to today for me - I just beat Holland at cricket (and yes, not on some bloody game, in real life. And no, not the actual team, but their U15s )

Counterpunch coming up : https://en.wikiped...l_members. .
on topic though, i'm still trying to comprehend this Rasmussen thing. Why would Rabobank do what they have done at a time when the press are having a field day over doping cheats?. That's just going to tar Rabobank and Rasmussen with the same negative press regarding cheating.
Surely they could suspend him after the tour, especially too since the team has worked so hard for him, sacrificing their own podium chances for him.
Politically for Rabobank I can't help wonder why right now, it's like a low blow to the whole Team, having wasted their efforts. What benefit could it possibly have? |

word going around is that Bruyneel threatened legal action on Rabobank if they didn't do this. typical Bruyneel. |

Rider reactions to the doping:
Jens Voigt
Jens Voigt is sick and tired of his doping colleagues. "I am fed up with this. They make our life difficult and complicated. Through their obvious stupidity, they risk the existence of the teams, including soigneurs, mechanics, bus drivers and so on."
The CSC rider opposed suggestions that the Tour be ended early. "That would mean that the good guys have given up and the bad guys have won. I don't want that. That would be the wrong signal."
Good on you Jens, a beacon for other riders to follow
Michael Boogerd
"To ride for four more days in the Tour for nobody? I won't do that," he said, according to Sporza. "I don't know what I should think of all this. I want to go home immediately.
I feel so sorry for him - 17 stages of pain and suffering...for nothing, all in his final season
Armstrong, who seems to be condoning doping:
Armstrong
The outspoken American compared the Vinokourov case to the one of Tyler Hamilton, adding that "it doesn't make sense. Why would someone take the risk and make the same mistake?"
So using a dope that is less risky and has been used by other riders who've got away with it is perfectly fine Lance?
