I remember staring incredulously at the TV when he came second in a mass sprint at the Tour, thinking "how's this possible?"
EDIT: just saw alex's post

He looks like he has improved greatly in climbing......probably means that he has lost some weight and therefore does worse TT's, but we can always hope |

Preparing or not, 20 minutes is a lot for the so-called "great" rider Dekker.
People were doubting Vino when he lost 10 minutes, so surely Dekker should be doubted. You are a complete moron who has simply no clue what he's talking about. Have you even followed the news?
The guy didn't have any decent training due to his hip injury which has been plagueing him since the Tour of Basque (begin April). Yet, even with that injury, he managed to win the Tour de Romandie, because he really wanted to prove himself. However, that made the injruy even worse. He trained on/off for the past month.. few days training, pain... few days rest.. then finally they got him examined and now he's hip is fine.
But honoustly, with the condition he's starting here you can't possibly say he should be doubted. He's here to GAIN condition... so back off.
Oh and another thing you possibly completely missed, today he said he didn't force himself. If he would he would probably ride top 35 or something like that. But what's the use of it? Why would he ride himself to smithereens for a top 35 when he still has to gain condition... Same goes for Boogerd who had a severe knee injury
Please, shut up if you don't know what you're talking about. I don't like ignorant people who have a big mouth and critise all riders where they have no clue what has been going on.
Easy to criticize from your seat, go bike yourself with an irritated hip for 2 months and see if you can still win the Tour of Romandie, attack in LBL and Fleche Wallone and finish 12th in AGR.
Oh and believe me, I DO know what I'm talking about because I'm in close contact with the guy... |

It isn't about that. I'm just fed up with people cricising with no idea of what's going on
when I don't train for a week I'm already in horrible shape... imagine TD. This is his very basic level on which he is riding. You can't expect him to do top 10 with no good training at all...
I hope Sporting Nonsense (maybe the last part of his name explains much) get's an injury while sporting, then has to do nothing for a month and then let him do something very very hard. I bet he would give up instantly |

I think Ruben is correct. Not even the biggest talents can win every single day they race if they are suffering from injury. I think we all need to step back and think about the dedication that these athletes put into the sport and the suffering they go through and give them the benefit of the doubt. |

If we would all do that the cycling topic would be a big piece of crap. |
