I knew it...
When Vino won the race, the first thing I said to my brother is that it reminds me to Landis the year before...
Looks like I was right |

Vinokourov:
"I heard that I made a transfusion with my father's blood," Vinokourov said. "That's absurd, I can tell you that with his blood, I would have tested positive for vodka."
proof that a son of chicken farmers can hate his parents too.

a ukrainian student over here once told me: "bah...russians...I swear their mothers all put vodka in their bottles when they were babies"
hopefully it's just your fathers and the newer generations aren't affected

Eurosport commentator just said that the strong rumour going around is that Rasmussen is the positive guy for testosterone
John Gadret: "I rode with Rasmussen in mountain biking, and it's about time he stopped doping. I'll talk to him about that today because this has to stop"
wow

What sort of doping?
Why don't they find it in his blood/urine? |

I really hoped that cycling had finally dragged itself out of this stupid doping era - an e-mail on Eurosport a few days ago actually summed up why doping is just pointless - saying we watch cycling to see human achievement, we watch them to see humans pushed to their limits in pursuit of achievement - (me again now) not doping, we want to see them push themselves to their limit, to the point where we think they can no longer go on, and then to astound us by pushing back that maximum, going beyond that limit. That, everybody is the joy of cycling.
Quite frankly, I don't really give a crap who wins (unless they are doped) - all I want to see is someone to give it 100%, physically, mentally and emotionally. Whoever wins comes second to that, I find the joy in watching riders pursue the impossible, to push themselves further as a human. Watching this makes me marvel, and is why I can never turn my back on cycling - even through the doping, through the hysteria of drugs, I always hope that the person I watch is riding under his own steam, and it disappoints me when they dope. But I always hope that it is a glorious achievement by a human under his own power. I always hope. There is always hope.
Sorry about the ramble, had to be done

Oh, and by the way, Vinokourov has now become a little delusional, I think he is becoming paranoid:
Vinokourov told the French sports daily L'Equipe in Wednesday's edition that he had not cheated. "It's a mistake. I never doped, that's not the way I see my profession," the newspaper quoted him as saying. "I think it's a mistake in part due to my crash. I have spoken to the team doctors who had a hypothesis that there was an enormous amount of blood in my thighs, which could have led to my positive test."
Vinokourov claimed to be the victim of a "provocation." "It's been going on for months and today they're managing to demolish me," he said. "The setting up of our team made a lot of people jealous and now we're paying the price. It's a shame to leave the Tour this way, but I don't want to waste time in proving my innocence."
