Shonak: I have never cheered so much over a simulated result of a race I didn't take part in. Roubaix was not that surprising considering last years win, but I didn't expect him to take RvV already
It's really nice to see that the team still have what it takes in spite of me leaving them
sutty: Sure is!

Scandinavian Race in Uppsala
For obvious reasons this is a highlight of the season for us, even though most people will be giving all their attention to a crazy Giro with all the GT-winners from last season and most of the other top climbers. I'm sure the Rear Wheel will bring you a good summary at the end of the month.
Usually this race turns in to a long battle for position as there’s a lot of very narrow roads and the short but steep hill makes things even more complicated.
The first break went away when I was still working my way up through the peloton so our representative in there became Richard Larsen. In fact it was only him and a Polish Whirlpool-rider, whose name I can’t spell.
With 108 km to go the duo had a gap of 8 minutes, which was just enough to almost catch up with the rear of the peloton, which then made some of the teams start working properly.
We had a good seat right behind Belavia, Saxo and Jack Wolfskin, which was a very good thing as I’m told the peloton started cracking already with 95 km left.
50 km left and the duo has 4 minutes on us.
With 17 km to go I heard mention of a lot of crashes over the radio. I was still safe close to the front, but Nystrand seemed to be caught behind with our last batch of bottles.
With 10 km to go and 1’30’’ up to the front duo it looks like the chasers might have mistimed it. With a team mate out in front I was obviously locked in my role and had to keep my calm not to mess things up for Richard.
The Pole rode a long sprint out in front, but he was just much stronger than Richard, so there was nothing my team mate could do apparently.
Being afraid of forcing up the speed as I didn’t know what was happening out in front I hesitated a bit too long in the sprint and had a really hard time finding some space to move ahead.

sutty: Larsen did great in deed. The blocking is what happens on narrow roads like this and part of what makes this race unique as there's no room for even small mistakes near the finish...

Considering the sprint 12th is well-deserved result from Joel, while the 2nd place of Richard is yet another well-desereved step in a good direction.

Allright- I'm officially declaring this story dead.
I can't seem to motivate myself to keep it going - guess one-rider stories are just not for me...

Very unfortunately, but maybe a team-story in some of those days. There's a story of the year to be defended after all.

when something doesn't feel right, you shouldn't continue it.
doesn't make it less sad though |

It is indeed sad that you are finishing this story so early , but it had a lot to live up to after the success of Nordic Cycling |
