Belgian rider Tom Boonen has failed an out-of-competition test for cocaine, his Quick Step team have confirmed.

.."The test, which was positive for cocaine, was carried out by the Flemish authorities," team spokesman Alessandro Tegner said.

"It was about two weeks ago. There is a team meeting to discuss the situation."

This is not good for Boonen as a human being not as a cyclist. But also this could have some impact on his cyclist life too.

It won't last, Boonen pulls in the main results for the team (and/or any team that wants him)

Quite right. If Quickstep let him go, I dont see any problems for him to find a new team, sadly.

Well, it is of course stupid of him to start taking drugs again, but on the other hand he only does it when he's not riding any races. So you can't really blame him of being a bad sportsman.

btw I thought his girlfriend Lore worked in a drug rehabilitation centre? If she didn't notice he was taking drugs again, then she must be really bad at what she does.

MAybe she noticed and that is the reason why he wasn´t caught during races....

Frans De Cock, the big guy of QS(the sponsor, not the team) is going to talk to Boonen this afternoon and will then decide what actions will be taken against Boonen
