[PCM06 FIXES] Graphical, Language, StarForce

With these fixes, you should be able to run PCM2006 on newer machines (Windows Vista, 7 and later):
***** FIX #1 (Graphical) *****
Under windows vista or 7 (maybe 8 too, I don't know), graphical issues are encountered when stage includes water areas (river or seas).
The graphical issues are: All white or all black panels in race (blinks). It affects both INTEL, NVIDIA and ATI/AMD graphic adapters.
LEFT: Original Game. RIGHT: With the no water stages fix
This fix removes rivers and seas from stages of the original game. It will remove the graphical issues on INTEL, NVIDIA and ATI/AMD graphic adapters.
Just replace original game files from the "CM_Stages" folder with these ones.

***** FIX #2 (StarForce)*****
A silver edition of the game was released later by Cyanide. This version includes the 1.0.0.8 patch, removes the starforce protection but has an issue for languages selection.
Regarding the StarForce Issue, you can replace some of your game files with the files from the Silver Game Edition which removes that issue with newer versions of windows (just copy these 2 files in your game folder).

***** FIX #3 (Language)*****
If you have the latest game edition (Silver edition, as detailed above), you may face an issue that only Czech and French languages are available in game options. This fix restore the other languages.

If you want to fix custom stages, the modification is the following:
Edit your race file (.xml),
Replace all sea="1" by sea="0" (if any),
Remove rivers data between <rivers> and <rivers /> tags (if any).
Run the game et voilĂ ! |

Hi Sylvao,
Can you help me please. When I try to unzip your file with Win RAR I get the following error for each of the stage fixes:
! C:\Users\BVP\Downloads\NoWater_Stages(1).zip: Unknown method in CM_Stages\chpts_belgique.xml
! C:\Users\BVP\Downloads\NoWater_Stages(1).zip: Unknown method in CM_Stages\chpts_denmark.xml
! C:\Users\BVP\Downloads\NoWater_Stages(1).zip: Unknown method in CM_Stages\chpts_russia.xml
..................
Any ideas?

The first thing you should to is download again in case there was an error during the download.
Another option would be to use another tool like 7-zip to unzip the files. |

Yes, the ZIP file compression method is BZIP2 for better compression. As pointed out by Lachi, 7ZIP can handle several files including this ZIP file compression method. I thought that winRAR would be able to handle it as well. Anyway, I've done another archive with the standard compression method (Deflate), the file is 2.1 MB. Hello vanclay,
The v3.06 savegame won't work with the newest version since the database has changed. If you enjoy your current play, you should continue it. Otherwise if you want to benefit from the latest features of the pack, just install it and then start a new game.
I can't remember exactly the changes between v3.06 and v3.22 but the v3.06 should be stable as well in career mode.

just to be sure I'll post what I said in the language fix here too
I did what the read-me file told me too but I still got french, czech language (deleted mouse5.tga and copied all the files from the lang fix into my Database folder)

I have the 2 versions and made the fix on the silver edition with the help of the original game. Maybe you have another edition?
Does your game has the same front cover shown here (silver edition)? This edition includes the 1.0.0.8 patch and removes the starforce protection.
Also I did the fix on a clean install. Maybe try it with a clean game install too.

my front has a similair to what is shown at the first post except those silver lines at top and buttom

I have made a bigger pack with all the files of the original database and mouse folders. Give a try with this one:

Replace your game files with that ones and remove mouse5.tga in any mouse folder (CM_Gui/mouse or Gui/mouse).
I hope it will work for your game because I have no idea how to go further if this doesn't work.

OK, there might be another way. Editing local files and replacing all french or czech in game texts by another langage texts. I could give a try. Do you want italiano and english?

OK, I've done some changes but it's taking time.
Could you please try this file: Replace Local files with these ones (in your database folder).

Now when you go in option menu, you should have 'English (TEST)' language. Select it and restart game (for language change) and you should have english texts with some czech texts remaining.
Report me if this is working for you so I would finish the work and give you dutch too.

Well, that's very strange. Do you replace the files in your PCM2006 database folder? (Because if you have other PCM games, you may have database folders in your personal documents but this is not the case for PCM2006. I mean the database folder is in the game directory, not in your personal folders like newer PCM games. |

I placed it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager - Saison 2006\Database
edit: the files also dissapear after a certain time 
edit #2: the dissapear when I change the language to czech

Yes, it seems your game is reluctant to modifications. Maybe try copy the local.cdb (I provided to you with 'English test') to OriginalLocal.cdb in your database folder, you will have 3 different file names for the same data:
local.cdb (copy/rename) => local.cdb, OriginalLocal.cdb, local.cdb~
Now the game can not restore the 'original' OriginalLocal.cdb.
And you can keep mouse5.tga, this should not matter with that modification but try with it and without it to test.
If that doesn't work, well. no more idea...
