Gilbert wins the Road title, Contador the TT and Omega owns everybody in the TTT. |

Would love if Gilbert finally managed to pull of a worlds title. I'll be cheering for him and Purito, who'd really deserve a big success after losing all the jerseys on the Vuelta's last day.
I think Gerrans will be really dangerous too.

Just my belief, but I think that this course could be more suited to sprinters than a lot of people believe. The thing is, those with strong, punchy type sprinters are those with teams who won't put all their eggs in one basket and fully support those sprinters, so they might not be in the mix at all (Friere, Boonen, Sagan perhaps)

How in god's name did Israel qualify six U23 riders??? Sorry, meant how in Adonai's name...Anyway, I'm all for it. A couple of those guys are actually quality. If they get in the right program, no reason they couldn't race at a high level. Israel needs a real high level pro, not Margaliot...
As for the race itself, I'll ignore the obvious points, and note some other things that catch my eye.
1) Columbia has Duarte, Uran, and Henao. That is a scary, scary trio for this finish. Three matches to burn, and in Uran a guy who would surprise no one with a win.
2) Very dangerous squad from France. Two leaders, five strong helpers, good course for them. Would love to see Chava win.
3) Ireland, Denmark, Switzerland, and Norway all qualify under the, 'would count them as favorites if they had more than 2-3 riders' rule.
4) Spain is just frightening. Maybe a little too frightening. Can't see them riding as a coherent unit with some of the trade team rivalries in there. That squad is insane though, got to be one of the best ever on paper.
5) Said it before and I'll say it again. The US team this year sucks, and I can't see it getting any better in the near future. We have two top tier GT talents (TJ and Joe D), another high quality GT talent (Talansky), and a TT plus maybe classics talent (Mini-Phinney) and no one else. Like, I mean, no one else. Lawson Craddock? Really? I mean, Really?

I think I'm going to the road race. It's gonna be a long ride but I will see if I can be there.

Chavanel is there to help, he said himself he's concentrating on the TTT and the ITT. His form is not good enough at the moment. |

The Worlds will be incredibly interesting this year. Most good puncheurs looks like they're getting into form for the Worlds, and it will be hopefully be an epic battle for the win. Gilbert is my favourite, but it will be very interesting to see how Spain decides to play it.
A shame they won't show the junior and U23 races on television. Will be interesting to see what Norway can do there, especially for the juniors, as the team is really, really strong. |

Valkenburg is still a long trip for me, Friesland should've organised it... But maybe I'll come to Valkenburg.

Gilbert and Purito are the strongest on paper I believe but I wonder if spain really can make their team work enterely for Purito. They got too many world class riders. |

Why not? A WC RR being decided because of echelons . Something completely different.

We'll have Qatar for that. Once is enough, the worlds should never be pan flat. Plus if they make a circuit race there wouldn't be echelons.
