The pre-season is underway and the teams have released depth charts for the seasons start.
September 5th, 2012 kicks off the season when the Dallas Cowboys travel to defending champ New York Giants!
Also highlighting week 1 is the Pittsburgh Steelers trying to get revenge on Denver Broncos, who eliminated them from the playoffs last year. They bring in Peyton Manning instead of Tim Tebow at the helm this year.
Any early playoff predictions?
The season schedule is here:

Rams stuck in a tough division. I see no hope for this season.

I have a full set of predictions, but to keep it short here are my playoff teams:
AFC-
Patriots 15-1
Texans 12-4
Steelers 12-4
Broncos 11-5
Ravens 10-6
Chargers 10-6
NFC-
Packers 14-2
49ers 13-3
Cowboys 11-5
Giants 11-5
Lions 11-5
Saints 10-6
I think it takes at least 10 to get in this season as the gap between the haves and have nots is about as big as ever, and it starts at QB, every team here is a "have".
My bottom 4 going for the 1st overall pick and Matt Barkley next season are:
Vikings 2-12
Jaguars 3-13
Tampa Bay 4-12
Arizona 4-12

I would definitely add the Browns to the Barkley sweepstakes, that is if Barkley is worth the hype, i'm not convinced he is though. |

Don't underestimate the Giants. People made that mistake twice already.

NFC South should be very interesting. Not only Bucs, Panthers and Coons have improved but also without Payton and Vilma I don't see Saints as a dominant team in that division.

Nobody thinks the Dolphins have improved. They lost Marshall, but with a strong QB team and Cameron Wake leading the defense, that should improve. The always clutch Dan Carpenter kicking, and Reggie Bush to run the ball. Chad Johnson hopefully back to his old ways, and a healthy Jake Long to lead the line. Hopefully better than an 0-8 start and 6-10 finish this year.

Jsea,
I take it you're not a Steelers fan? Or perhaps just have a relatively grim expectation for the year?
It was eleven more than necessary.

Too many questions for Steelers. Big Ben can't get truly healthy. Haley likes to ground and pound while not only it isn't Steelers identity recently they also don't have the right tools as the offensive line looks questionable and without Mendenhall their r'backs group doesn't look that impressive. Also Mike Wallace's contract situation and loss of William Gay who looked surprisingly good last season.

Shocking statements, all. Ben Rothethethlothlisburger doesn't need to be healthy. He could lose a leg and be effective. They'd just staple an old bar stool leg on. O-line looks a little better. Redman is a beast in the making. Wallace won't catch less well. They'll win more than 9 and very possibly splatter the Ravens this time, again.
My step-son is a clinically obsessed Bears fan (yes, they exist) so I get to hear every single football story in mind-numbing detail. I went to a few Steelers games when I first moved over here from Europe and got hooked. As an ex Rugby player it's about as close as I can get to proper manly diversion on this side of the pond, apart from skating. Plus it fills in much of the cycling off-season nicely.
It was eleven more than necessary.

Eagles v Patriots in the Superbowl. The Patriots upped their d and I think the full off-season was beneficial for the Eagles team chemistry |

Eagles - pah. They'll get lost on the team bus in Delaware some time in October and never be heard from again.
