Interesting article about the Osymetric chainrings from Wiggins.

http://www.radspo..._76628.htm

A Sky-mechanic says that their measurements didn´t show an advantage, but Wiggins uses them "onyl because he believes in them and they can push him".

There's been controversial results for measurements on oval rings, ever since I remember seeing them around (mid/late 90's).
My father had one (not as blatantly oval as Wiggo's), and I used it sometimes, but I couldn't feel a difference. Doesn't mean there's not a slim margin difference though.

Just realized that Wiggins has never been lower than second in the gc this year. Also, if it wasn't for Cancellara, he would have been in yellow from the very first day. Shock

Didn't bother reading the article, but if Wiggins believes it works, that's good enough, I guess. Placebo can give real effects.

So...Jurgen Vandenbroeck works all year to do good in the Tour and nowhere else and finishes 10 minutes down as 4th. Is it really worth it?

Nibali loses with almost the same margin he lost to Contador in the Giro last year. And with the latter coming back next year and Froome also clearly superior I don't see how Nibali will ever win a TDF. He'll do better to focus on the Giro/Vuelta... but that goes for 90% of the top 10 TDF contenders (yes including Gesink, don't worry Wink)

Yep Nibbles is not most shining star..but still look he's GT podium list. Amazing stuff and stability.
Taaramäe rode descent TT..I do not even understand anymore. How can be so high at todays TT..he's condition has been total shit last two weeks. Weak field?

Favorite guys on that tour besides Nibbali hopless atacks..was youngster duo Pinot as climber and TVG who surprised us all. And damn..man is GC 5th.

What is this anyway..Giro and Tour. I do not want to take nothing away from winners..but damn this has been boring. This is not even about profiles...but this year 2 first GT has been like zombie races.
Let hope that Vuelta will ve greatest GT at this year.

This is probably the forum to go to if you want whining about how everything is "boring". I can't remember the last time I saw a race where someone didn't complain about it not being fireworks from the get-go.

Well, it's a bit hard to argue that this Tour has had any fireworks at all, I'd say. The Tour winner hasn't attacked once (nothing wrong with that, that's how it works out for Wiggins) - that pretty much sums up this Tour.

Well, if the only thing you ever care about is who is first in Paris, then every single race will be boring... Try to look at whats happening during the race instead of simply staring at Wiggings.

True, but in those two TT's he blew away the competition...
We all said before the race that Wiggo would win it in the TT's if he was going to take yellow, well, he did just that.

He took about 5-10minutes out of his rivals in those two stages, and then stayed with the best on climbs.

People can say he doesn't deserve to win it because his team earned it for him. In part i agree with you, but how many of you have tried cycling up the Tourmalet, Peyseroude etc?

I can tell you that I have, and just having someone to set you a pace doesn't magically get to the top, you have to push your own wheels around at the end of the day, and he did that.

He matched every single attack that opposition riders made against him, and the time he pulled out in 2 days was enough to take a great victory over the competition a well earned TdF.

Furthermore, I would point out, that anyone who says he had poor results outside of TT's then take a look at other climbers, his were (as good as/better than) the rest excluding team mate Chris Froome, who was a brilliant team mate to Bradley, and part of a hard working Sky machine.

My Final Point: Many people are saying that Froome should have been the rightful winner, well...

Before the Tour, Team Sky stated that they would take Froome and Wiggins, and whilst Wiggo would initially be the leader, if Froome looked stronger, then he might take over the Mantle. Froome then had a crash, and Wiggo established himself in the first big TT, Ahead of Froome, why would 1st work for 2nd?

Wiggins then only once looked truly unable to go with Froome, and that was on the final stage in the Pyrenees, around 700m from the summit, by this point, Bradley had a 2minute lead, and even if Froome had gone Rogue against Sky, then I hardly think he could have collected back the 3minutes he ends up finishing second by.

Rant over, It just Riles me how people are nailing Wiggins.
A man who so far this year, has finished no lower than 2nd in a GC, and was the official named leader for this race.

Alright, let's have a look at the rest of top 10. Bring me the fireworks, please, because I don't see any.

I agree that other parts of the race, e.g. the sprints in the 1st week, were pretty interesting, but that doesn't make up for the fact that the GC battle, which after all is the main part of the race in my opinion, was one-sided and dull.

Speaking of Garmin, I think this is the first time they don't have a rider in the top 10 of Le Tour.

Okay, is there a story behind it already or is JV just a hobby nostradamus pretending to know Martin does a reverse Wiggo and will beat the other Martin soon? Rolling Eyes

I never claimed it was interesting..
As far as i'm concerned, the only truly interesting part of this years tour, was the duel for the Polka-Dots

My point was more that Sky set a pace which few could follow, one of the ones who could was there team leader, and then he won it in the TT's as we all predicted he would before this even got underway!

I think we all knew it would be boring, but were hoping for attacks and excitement in the off chance it happened and it never came, so I was not let down by this tour.

It met my expectations, they just weren't all that high. Nibali's attack which he later dropped out of due to some agreement with Valverde would have made the Tour exciting for a bit, but we all knew who was going to win after the first day in the "mountains".

Btw also congratulations to Gianni (Brajkovic) for reaching his first top 10 in the Tour de France.

I still remember the days when he wondered around the Cyanide and PPDB forums when he was an unknown. And later here, even as a professional.
Never guessed he'd make it this far! Amazing!

Yep. He even got in a quarrell or something with a user when he finished second back in the 2008 Lombardia, when he thought he had won it.
Rest in Peace Wouter Weylandt and Xavi Tondo Sad
