I cannot believe that spectators would endanger the lives/livelihoods of these great athletes. Are you sure that it was done deliberately?
Anyway very happy for LLS. I was conviced that when Sagan had stayed with the leaders on the last climb that he would win.... What a nice surprise.

You don't get it, do you ?
Contador attacked, Schleck followed and got a mechanical, Contador continued because the race was "on".
The whole group, including Evans and Rolland, "quietly" passes up the climb. The race is "off". Evans gets a flat, Rolland attacks. That's being a douche.
It was the other way round. But you still can´t compare the situations.
Schleck attacked and Vino followed. Contador did attack when Schleck got problem with his bike.

UCI Commisaires have confirmed. Tacks were spread across the road on the top of the climb.
EDIT: Prudhomme has also confirmed.

There's no way he could've lost 2 min in 10km on such a type of road, and without being tired of a breakaway journey, he seemed quite in a good shape today (often on front) and probably planned an attack, but his manager probably told him to wait it wouldn't have helped him a lot

Maybe he heard over the Europcar radio ' ... a tack' and thought, ' I will attack then'

Good God. I'm sickened by that. Who goes to the trouble of travelling and waiting at a Col, to see the Tour and then throws tacks onto the road. That would have to be premeditated..... it's nuts.... |

The lead was around 1'30 at most, and that was with 15-20 kms to go. He would get caught, since both BMC, Lotto and Liquigas would pace just in order to teach him a lesson as well as for GC considerations.
Not sure what he must have been thinking. Not the best way to create a reputation. |
