Has a team ever lost all of its riders from injuries/crashes before? (Not pulling out like Saunier, etc.)
I'm sure it has, but I cant remember the last time.
Garmin seem like they may do it at this point.
They have Martin, Zabriskie, Millar and Vandevelde and possibly Farrar and Hunter who will start tomorrow I think, the rest are unknown or doubtful. Hesjedal I have heard will abandon, Van Summeren looked terrible, Vandevelde and Millar where caught in crashes again I think. Hunter and Farrar went down again, I dont know how they are though, but can't be feeling great.

Millar is continuing, at least he seemed fine when being interviewed, Hunter didnt fall, was just delayed.
So thats, Martin Zabriskie Hunter and Millar for sure.
Farrar should just drop out, he has crashed a lot, and doesnt seem likely to win a stage.
4 riders after 6 days.... F**K!!!! And after last year as well, at least the Giro went well

I think whoever wins the Tour this year, its going to be a hollow victory as there are hardly any favourites left who (A) haven't lost time due to crashes, (B) haven't lost time due to injuries sustained in crashes and (C) haven't abandoned due to injuries I'm all for Wiggins winning and its becoming his best chance to win day by day and I'll be glad if he does because it will improve cycling's image here in Great Britain no end, but not having favourites here and losing favourites throughout the race surely will take the shine off the win for me.

Vandevelde described himself as "Not injured but beat up" Also said he and the other GC guys along with Martin "maybe" will launch a team attack on polka dots.
No word on Hesjedal
Zabriskie obviously not injured.
Dan Martin waited for Ryder. Not in crash, okay.
Robbie Hunter says he has a back injury and some missing skin but is still in it.
Vansummeren probably out. Was amazing to finish.
Danielson out.
No word on Farrar. He didn't crash, was dropped and held up by it.
David Miilar invented the word "fankled" for getting injured in a crash. Bashed his knees, ankle, and chest plus the large gash shown earlier. Don't know if he's got it in him to go on but he's traveling to the stage start tomorrow, we'll see.
So they're in bad shape.
P.S. Viva la Twitter for all the info!

I am very angry that Cavendish is on Team Sky right now. They don't care about him at all. I think he should of went to Omega Pharma Quickstep with Tony Martin. This years tour is not as exciting as before with Contador and A. Schleck. I want Peter to win the green jersey and I hope to see some viscous attacks when the mountain stages arrive.

Gesink says he never crashed this hard and felt almost nothing. "Must have landed on top of someone instead of asphalt"
Top 3 chances are gone ofcourse, but not chances of being good in mountain stages

I have never seen a crash like that, looking at the aftermath I felt quite scared for the riders at the bottom of that pile up. Also I have never seen a crash take out so many riders. We have crashes every year in the Tour, but it is getting out of control and becoming too dangerous and a risk to one another now. In 2008 there werent too many crashes but as the years have gone on and the wealth of talent in cycling has grown. The sport is more dangerous than ever and maybe race organisers should start to think about reducing the number of riders in the the Grand Tours as now I believe it is too many. Mainly because of the wealth of talent all battling to be at the front of the peleton.

Anybody think this stage will be key at showing us the Tour's GC top 5?
I remember from like the last 5 GT's people saying we need to wait 'till 3rd week, but if I recall right, the GC's of those GT's didn't alter that much after the first two mountain stages (except for time trials).

I have no idea why his DS told him to ride at all after the crash...
I don't think he did. I know Radio Tour first said he was out, then back on the bike, but pictures suggest otherwise.

Yeah, they added so much excitement to the flat stages like what we've had so far.

Still he couldn't follow the group with Schleck and Mollema and lost an additional 1,5 minutes. So I'm not too hopeful for him. And Mollema looked bad too, so I'm afraid they will just be dropped.
Amazing that Ten Dam is the only guy uninjured. That will probably last until the Pyrenees.

Cav's in a catch 22, despite being the best sprinter he'll never win green (or for the next 3-4 years anyway)
If Wiggins does win the tour, then they'll be back next year (with a climbing squad) to defend
If Wiggins doesn't win, then they'll be back with a climbing squad to win it
Cav's green jersey hopes left him when he joined Sky |

Obviously the HTC team was built around the Cav and it was very succesful. The whole team brought the best out of Cav by forming an amazing train. It's a case of too high expectations at Sky, the team isnt built around Cav anymore, it's mixed and that handicaps Cav.
