Tour of Colorado
After all the HC races have already taken place here in August, I would like to welcome you to this 8 stages C1 Tour of Colorado. And with the Tour de l'Avenir also taking place, the young guns won't be making the the trip to the United States for this contest. But taking their place will be the D2 team as they hope to challenge the next level while get a sense of how tough the competition is if they get reward with a CT team next year.
Also at stake is being the first winner of this race, fighting for that honor are ...
Marco Marzano gets to wear #1 and will surely be under pressure to perform as he really isn't that much better then his competition around him. Will being the top favourite help or hurt Marzano?
Magno Nazaret leads Team Emu Export but the team has also brought Mikayil Krasnoperov, who on paper looks like the better option for Emu. It will be interesting to see how the team handles both of their climbers.
American team California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized brings two future American superstars in Peter Stetina and Tyler Brandt. Stetina might be the better climber however Brandt is better against the clock. So just like Emu, it will be interesting to see who will lead the team.
Aker Solutions - Bergans continues the conversation of controversy at the team leader spot by bringing Wilmer Vasquez and Jairo Agudelo. Vasquez is stronger in the mountains but Agudelo is a much better TT then his teammate. Usually Aker doesn't run into this problem but Alarcon can't ride every race. (Cheers from the other CT Managers. )
Francisco Colorado leads CSC-Orbea and unlike the few teams mentioned above, he is the clear cut leader for the team. And he will need a lot of help from his teammates if he wants to compete against the riders listed above. Colorado will need some luck here in Colorado.
Other hopefuls are,
Martinez
Astarloza
Bosisio
Colorado just doesn't feature mountains, stages 1,2,6, and 8 are all classified as flat stages for the sprinters. So the top sprinters should at least get mentioned.
Sinner
Vingerling
Loddo
Haidar Anuawar
Jørgensen

A pleasant surprise to see our team decently ranked. Hopefully either Vasquez or Agudelo can be strong in the mountains, with one of them breaking the top 5. I can only cross fingers AI finds out of it. Jørgensen should be able to get a couple of top 5's in the sprint, would be very nice if he gets lucky with the positioning and "steals" a stage, as we don't have any kind of lead out for him.
I guess it will be up to mostly Emu to control it, if they don't I suspect it will be breakaways all over the place. Looking forward to the race and reports. |

Time for a stage-win for Oz Hoping for the sprints and maybe Shaun Lewis gets a shot on a mountain-stage.. should be fun to watch, anyway.

Again, hoping for some breakaways and a Top20 for Rolland.

All manner of tactics can play out here - Marzano and Nazaret are of course the big two, both being in the top 10 climbers on the CTour.
All sorts of things to look out for including the hybrid Division 2 team - surely they look better to try and infiltrate breakaways in this race after the woeful outing in Austria.

I know I am
I will try to put a report up everyday starting tomorrow, but I will be on vacation so I don't know I will be able to get WiFi to post. So if I miss a day that will be why. Or if I don't finish writing the reports, I have 4 of them done meaning 4 to go.

Argh. Hilly would have helped Rolland a lot.

Hoping Belda can be breakaway hero for D2 team. The man has shown he can get up mountains, but this is another level

Go Fajt! I really think the D2 team will be decent here, of course it's impossible (*crosses fingers*) to be worse than in Austria, but, look, the game thinks there's one team worse than us!

This TT looks a lot like the one at the Vuelta a Tachira. Hopefully the result is similar.
