I'm sorry, I though this was the Tour de Suisse thread and not the stupid-discussion-about-meaningless-detail thread. I guess I clicked on the wrong thread.

That's what I was getting at but it's such a wonderful gap-filling game. So many options.

Continuing our "Tour contenders all suck right now" theme, Antón lost 13 minutes today

So, do we believe a breakaway will make it tomorrow? The end looks too hilly for sprinters, so there probably aren't a lot of teams who want to work to catch a breakaway.

Is he scheduled to ride the Tour anyway?

Because if he's targeting the Vuelta, it's less worrying.

What!? Thought he was doing the Vuelta this year. Disappointing to hear, I definitely looked forward to see him climb in La Vuelta, I'm still hoping to see him back in great shape, and this year should suit him, thinking of the fact he was strong both in 2008 and 2010, but bad in 2009 and 2011. Obviously 2012 is his next big thing Pfft

Do you know if he's still doing the Vuelta, and focusing on the Vuelta, "only" riding TdF as a pure helper for Sanchez?

He's only focussing on Vuelta and only Vuelta ember Wink

This is first race from Anton after he broke his collarbone at LBL, so expecting from him here was bit ambitious anyway Pfft

Nice grammar -nazi discussion, but you people dont know good old Fort Boyard or what? It was nonstop "Allez,Allez" support for the competitors!!! Wrath of Papa Furat on you! Grin

Suisse is so entertaining in comparsion to Dauphine (well we know who makes the difference of being boring Pfft ).

I know about one "sprinter" who should not have a problem to go over the hills and score,i really cant look past him for the stage, if he will ride it full gas and they will catch the possible break. Wink

Thanks for the French lesson, guys Smile
I picked up a small French handbook about 2 years ago and allez was on the first page with the meaning, 'go, or to go' underlined and bolded, while everything else was normal Smile

Breakaway, I'm not sure.
I think a small-medium sized group leftovers with GC contenders and a couple more.

gesink is often not good staight from altitude training when there is a mountain stage on day 1/2/3.

In California he trained on altitude as well but the mountain stages were at the backend. Now it's different.
Last year he struggled in the opening Dauphine stages as well and was good in the mountains in the final weekend.

Now I expect the same. If he isn't good in this weekends stages then something's wrong.

Vangenehten (LTB)
Bonnafond
Morkov

These three has almost 11 minutes advantage, that will be hard to brought back.

I'll have to agree with you Ruben, but to be honest I think that Gesink is overrated. There is always buss around him - I know that he hasn't been lucky throughout his career injurywise, but to me he's got to show himself in this years TdF to justify the expectations to him.

Unfortunately for him, I don't think it will be this year, either. He has missed something for a couple of years since his breakout. I don't know what, but he can only surprise me positively.

Then why in God's name ten Dam attacked? At first I thought it was a maneuver before Gesink's attack. But when I heard french commentators say olala Gesink, I understood that the whole tactics are fucked up.

Let's have a closer look at the three leaders as they sweep past the 70km point. Bonnafond is the youngest, at 24 years of age, and on the start line this morning he was the closest to lead of this trio in the GC, though he was way down in 110th position. Morkov is know for his track exploits and is a former world madison champion and won a silver medal in Beijing at the 2008 Olympics. Van Genechten is only a year younger than Bonnaford. He is yet to win a major race at senior level.
