I seem to remember you writing that the 2007 Tour was your favourite one Well, that makes two of us!
A thing that's not realistic about this story, is that the riders don't do victory celebrations. It's very annoying, because any photogallery from any stage should have a celebration pic.

Great story and a very close sprint. Although i think you'll find the tour was in Europe all along |

Thanks!
As an Englishman you would know that you guys refer to mainland Europe as just Europe, and don't regard yourselves as part of it

Stage 3
Waregem - Compiègne
236.5 km
Tuesday 10 July

This was the longest stage in this year’s Tour de France. After yesterday's stage in Flanders, the peloton entered France today along some of the roads used for the Paris-Roubaix race.
One man with fond memories of today's finishing town, where Paris-Roubaix starts, was Stuart O'Grady, the current king of the cobbles.
"I wouldn't mind if the Tour went over a few sections of cobbles, I guess. I haven't been here since I won Roubaix, so it'll bring back a few good memories for sure", O'Grady said.
Usually by now in the Tour de France, we will have seen the Australian sprinter Robbie McEwen (Predictor - Lotto) bag a stage win or at least stamp his mark on the race in one way or another. So far this year, the Aussie has been remarkably quiet, with a 4th and a 10th place in the two sprint finishes we've had until now. Maybe today would prove to be a day for McEwen?
His team certainly thought so, as they were among the chasers limiting the advantage of the five-man breakaway that eventually got away after a hectic start to the stage.

Predictor - Lotto still had faith in McEwen. Johan Van Summeren did a good job pulling the peloton along.
With only one 4th category climb on the stage, Pérez' polkadot jersey was still safe on his shoulders. Almost surprisingly, you could say, the Basque rider wasn't part of today's break. When the escapees had surrendered to the might of the peloton, the sprinters got another challenge to deal with. Tour of Flanders-winner Alessandro Ballan (Lampre) decided to have a go!

Alessandro Ballan sensed an opportunity!
After some initial confusion back in the peloton, the sprint trains got their steam going again. It was touch and go whether Ballan would make it! Had he spoiled the day for Boonen & co?

Tom Boonen (Quickstep - Innergetic) came powering past Ballan on the run-in!
Ballan was caught within sight of the finishing line as the sprinters launched their final dash for the line. Boonen was heading for the win, but just as the Belgian was about to put his arms in the air to celebrate his second stage victory, someone popped out from nowhere!

Robbie McEwen (Predictor - Lotto) came from far behind to nick the win from Boonen on the line!
We had just witnessed a McEwen special! He was invisible until the last metres, where his incredible acceleration took him past everyone!
McEwen had this to say about his 12th win in a Tour de France:
"My teammates did an amazing job. I felt like I was dying, but everybody was. It was a very hard stage."
As a consolation for Tom Boonen, he's back in green. The other jerseys are unchanged. With the bonuses for 2nd place, Boonen is edging closer to the yellow jersey.

Yes! I like McEwen a lot, great to see a win from him.
So far it's really realistic. And I like the journalistic way of presenting the results.

Nice to see Boonen isn't dominating the sprints completely. I hope Hushovd can steal a win or two along with Cav before the end of the tour though. Great reporting so far, can't wait for the next stage. |

Not sure if we should be congratulating you for the first stage win in the tour, in the 2nd stage, or wait more until we reach a more mountainous terrain (specially those finishing in a sprint) So for now, I'll stick with congratulations for the reporting style and the pictures. They're amazing! I like how you're making all the pictures realistic, in angles and positions that they would have been taken by someone who was there. Oh and also congrats for the stats, they're proving to be very realistic

You're absolutely right. It's like you're really following TDF (in a quickened pace, then).

You do great so far! This could turn into my new favourite story, since 2007 Tour de France was one of the best along with the 2009 edition! I really like this way to report, it looks great and the text is very good.
Really look forward for the mountain stages.. So many memories keep it up! |

That should help, indeed
Interesting choice of career! You sometimes do reports about sports?
