Kayaking, not Rowing. Though they are pretty similar and at the same venue! Looks like he won last year's World Championships by 3 seconds, so ought to be a favourite.

Oh right. I forgot those events went by separate names Pfft

just have to point out that Kayaking is at the Lea Valley White Water Center
Rowing is at Eton Downey
not the same place, but still sort of similar events Smile

There is Kayaking at Eton Dorney AND Lea Valley Wink One is Canoe Sprint - where the Canadian hope is - and the other is Canoe Slalom

Ill also be up stupidly early to go to Box Hill. The difference being that I have a ticket for the uphill section Smile

Its Olympic Commercialism meeting the need to control numbers thanks to the stupid decision to send the race up a hill that has some sort of nature protection requirements.

It's not too unusual, the world championships have been doing it for years.

Theres been no mention of any big screens along the route, outside of Box Hill and The Mall, where a ticket is required

I have somewhat high hopes for Tonje Angelsen in the womens high jump. She took a silver medal during the European Championship and was painfully close to the gold medal.

Oh, and not to brag or anything, but here are three of the Norwegian athletes...

Tonje Angelsen (High Jump)

The British are obsessed with tickets. You need a ticket for everything. Speaking as a recovering half-Brit. Mix that with the ever-creeping commercialization of the Olympics and pop - you have a ticket system to visit a hill. Go figure. At least the hill has a cafe. Of course, this means you need a ticket to get into the cafe to buy stuff.

Coming soon - beach tickets, field tickets and graveyard tickets. Another - in the 'Return to Europe' column. I'm keeping a chart.
It was eleven more than necessary.

I don't have info on screens beyond what's in this thread but you'll be only a short tube ride (assuming they're running normally) and walk from the Mall there. That might be the best live viewing spot on that end. If you're thinking of going to Box Hill then that's much further out (about 20 miles) and its pretty well sealed off outside of the Olympics so I imagine it won't be accessible without the infamous TICKETS.

You're also right across from a giant cemetery - careful they don't ticket you. Wink

Best of luck - it's a fine city in many regards.

Box Hill is an exception because it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). European Law means it has to be protected, hence the tickets.

Yeah very good reasons for us norwegians and others to watch Pfft I'm not a fan of Vukicevic though, but Angelsen and Okparaebo is definitely two of the favourites.

One i miss in the OL though is Stine Bredal Oftedal:

Quit complaining, we still have Amanda Kurtovic, that makes up for Oftedal.

And i see Norway as the other nordic countries benefits from athletes with origin in former-Yugoslavia and Africa. Pfft

What i am looking forward to the most at olympics is of course cycling, athletics, basketball (go czech girls!), other ball collective sports and Brazil football team.

On the other hand i dont like swimming, shooting and rowing much.Smile

Also here are some czech female athletes, for comparsion Pfft

I wonder how Czechia and Slovakia manage to produce so many hot women being so small. Quality genes there, gotta go next year, being so close to the Slovak border. Pfft
