I'm not sure he can be blamed for that. He had to go either left or right, and unfortunately chose the wrong side.

4th is good for Demare considering he had to show immense bike control to miss Cav.

Will be interesting to see what the Giro directors do.
We've seen riders DQ'd for less.

I don't think Ferrari saw Cav until he hit him.
Still a stupid move though

Ferrari won`t be DQ`d completely. Probably being last for today.
His problem was not going right. He just should have stayed behind Farrar or who it was instead of trying to come around 2 riders at the same time by moving far right.
Easiest would have been to go left of course.

I can understand why he went right and not left. It was pretty tight there and had the other rider started his sprint it would have been impossible to make a pass there.
It was an accident, but still a bad choice.

Ferrari was an idiot, if you don't see that, you need glasses.
Anyway, I put on my Norwegian glasses, go Kristoff and Hushovd!

My stream froze during the sprint. I couldn't see it properly until I saw the replay. If you don't understand this, you need a brain.

He was an "idiot" there, but he went right and thought he could make it, but instead unluckily hit Cavendish. Anyways congrats for Goss. |

I bet ferrari will be avoiding meeting cavendish in the next couple of weeks.
He'll obviously be DQ'd for todays stage and will have a severe warning that if he does anything similar again he will be kicked off the whole race.
Thats the kind of sprint move you see in a 4th cat race. I hope his fellow pro's let him know how they feel about it. |

There's your course of the rainbow jersey beginning...
Not seen the crash yet, but from CN text reports apparently Cav was on Renshaw's wheel. If you can't bring him with you, then you may as well just follow him regardless.

No, Phinney is hoping onto the podium now to get the pink. Deservedly so.

Somehow Phinney has gone on the podium to collect the pink jersey.

Ferrari apparently said: "I can change my trajectory, I don't care of anything that happens behind me"
I have him in Fantasy Cycling, but I can't cheer for such a guy anymore if that is correctly translated.

Awful move from Ferrari. Hopefully Cav can continue the race. |
