I really thought Porte could pull it off in the TT. Oh well still a nice finish with Porte and Rogers!

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring. |

Shame you couldn't take the TT jersey. All the same, 2nd and 3rd is an imposing podium. |

It would had been nicer if Porte of Rogers finished in 1st place. But with 2 riders on the podium after Evans, is still a great result.
Looking forward to read more reports later on ! |

@all, you´re right would have been amazing to wear this jersey for the whole season but Cadel was just too strong this time. But with two men on the podium we´re still quite happy so far.
Next will be Tour Down Under and I´m going to play the first stage in a few moments, so the report can be expected the next hours |

The first two races were very nice for Sky, finishing on the podium in both National Championships. We´re still in Australia to ride the first Pro Tour Event in 2012. This year´s route in Down Under is pretty interesting with two hilly stages. So it might be a hard thing to win this race as a pure sprinter. Because of this we´ve sent Boasson Hagen as team captain. With his nice potential on hilly sections he could be able to do well there. Anyway the most stages are flat with chances for a sprint final. Bernhard Eisel, Chris Sutton are the most important men for our Sky train. They´re able to bring Boasson Hagen in a position he need to sprint successfully against the great opponents.
Greipel, Farrar, Goss, Petacchi, Boonen, Ciolek, Haussler, Bennati and Hushovd also take part in this Tour Down Under, so the competition is quite strong.
Team Sky
Startlist
Talking about favourites for the overall win is not that easy in the beginning of a season. No one knows something about the shape of other opponents until the race starts. So the only thing we can say, is that Boasson Hagen has the skills to reach something great here. Our goal is at least one stage win and maybe an overall podium. |

The first stage is totally made for sprinters. We´ve got some great pace setter with Eisel, Stannard, Knees and Hayman. There are many teams with good sprinters, so I´m sure we´ll see a bunch sprint today.

After a quite turbulent start with many moves, a group of 6 riders had the chance to control the stage. Sanz, Buffaz, Flens, Morkov, Corioni and Urtasun kept a nice pace in front of the pack, which brought an advantage of almost 5 minutes.

It was harder than expected to bring the breakaway back today. Especially Garmin, Lotto and Sky had to do a lot of pace in the pack. The gap became smaller and with 13 kilometres, the group was finally caught up.

With only 5000 metres left, our team had built a nice sprint train for Boasson Hagen. Everything looked great so far.

What a great situation! Lotto, Garmin and Team Sky were able to bring 3 riders to the front when the final sprint began. Lotto for Greipel, Garmin for Farrar and Sky for Boasson Hagen.

Unfortunately our captain hadn´t the legs to keep it up with all those fast guys. His basic position was pretty good but it seemed he was too late with his move.

The bunch sprint was very close in the end with Greipel as winner. As always, Greipel wins in Down Under. Goss and Paolini finished behind him with Boasson Hagen on position 9. To be honest this is the first disappointing result.

Shame Porte couldn't win. But Evans had proven to be very strong, though. Good luck Down Under.

I think you should of brought Cav but Boasson Hagen has to be a favorite for stage 2.

A nice start in the Tour Down Under for Team Sky
And it is really nice to see Boasson-Hagen taking part as well
The Team looks pretty strong, so a good overall looks pretty achievable |

Today´s stage is one of the most decisive in this week. Especially the second half might be hard for some riders. Not every sprinter has the skills to keep it up in the final sprint. Boasson Hagen is one, who´s definitely able, sprinting in a hilly stage finish.

After some crazy action the first parts of the race, the final uphill section was reached by the pack. There were some riders, pushing the pace with Monfort, Sutherland and Langeveld. Boasson Hagen had to answer that while Knees stayed in the pack, controlling the pace. Unfortunately we lost Sutton, Hayman and Eisel after a bad crash in the beginning. They were not able to come back into the pack, so they lost many minutes today.

The last kilometre was opened up with a nice sprint by Maxime Monfort. Boasson Hagen had some problems to accelerate, maybe he´s still searching for his shape. Brutt was passing him with easy on the left side.

That´s it for Monfort! Impressive last kilometre by him, finishing in front of Brutt and Pineau. Another unlucky stage for Boasson Hagen with the 6th position today. Tomorrow is another chance for our team with a very flat stage.

Third stage in Australia is another one with very flat terrain. Boasson Hagen didn´t show the strength we expected in the beginning but his shape is getting better. The pack won´t allow a successful break, so we´re all waiting for another bunch sprint.

Matthew Hayman was in today´s break in the middle of this stage, after many riders attacked. Bodnar joined them with a nice solo ride.

With only 4 kilometres to go, it the Liquigas rider was still in front by some seconds after an amazing ride. His the most courageous guy for sure today.
Our preperation worked good so far with Knees, pushing a lot in front. Boasson Hagen felt good with Sutton and Eisel on his side. On the left side was Garmin represented with Tyler Farrar. Andre Greipel wasn´t looking very good, as he had only one team mate left.

The sprint was in progress and Bodnar was almost standing in front of us with only a few metres to the finish line. Boasson Hagen had a great position next to Greipel. Farrar was some metres in front of them with the best acceleration so far.

Bodnar had no chance to stay in front, he only finished as 18th. Unlucky, pretty unlucky! Farrar took an impressive sprint in front of Andre Greipel and Boasson Hagen. The next podium for Team Sky in 2012. The first victory is still missing. Anyway we´re quite happy with that stage because it was clearly better.
