I know that feeling... when someone is riding a MotoGP, while the others simply ride their bike. Nevertheless, Cav is showing signs of improvement.
Rest in Peace Wouter Weylandt and Xavi Tondo

Thanks a lot, we keep fighting!
Today is the last stage in Qatar with another flat stage. With only 120 kilometres, it´s the shortest stage of this race. Anyway, there´s still a lot of motivation to get this single stage win with Cavendish.
The breakaway was quite hard to beat today, as there were some good decent puncheurs, such as Hayden Roulston. With only 4 kilometres to go, the RadioShack man was still in front of the peloton. Team Sky was just passing some of the escapes. Kristof Goddaert, Bennati and Rojas were right behind Mark Cavendish, who had another great leadout today.
Last kilometre point was reached by the sprinters while Hayden Roulston looked like the stage winner after a nice solo move out of the break. Bennati took the lead behind with Mark Cavendish in his slipstream.
Man, this one is such a shame for Roulston. The sprinters got him on the last metres. But who is today´s winner! Mark Cavendish came with a nice speed but Goddaert used his slipstream to make an own move. Petacchi took the third for sure and this podium brought him the overall win because of some bonus seconds.
We´re still waiting for the final result, as Cavendish and Goddaert really made it an exciting sprint final for us.
We had to wait, who was going to celebrate after the finish line. And that´s it! It was Mark Cavendish, raising his hands up to the sky. First win for Team Sky in Qatar and what a great way to finish this race is it!?

that happens with me but for the good of it!! I was racing Kittel with Hushovd and was a far way back when my lead out man finished but came up and pipped him on the line! such a good race but didn't think it was realistic honestly!!
and finally a good result for Cav! Can't wait till his next race!

So the first stage race in the desert is already done in Qatar but there´s still one missing. The Tour of Oman 2012 is quite a nice stage race including an exciting mountain arrival on stage 4 and even a hilly time trial one day later. Surely there will be no sprinter, taking the overall win but there are quite a few names, who could do that. We´ve sent a very strong Sky squad to Oman with Rigoberto Uran as a main captain. Chris Froome also has the quality to win this one but his shape might not be good enough so far. Our sprint train consists of Geraint Thomas, Ben Swift and Edvald Boasson Hagen. This is by far the strongest train in the pack. So we´re looking out for some nice results, not only in sprint finishes, but also on stage 4 and 5 and of course in the overall classification as well.
The whole competition is quite interesting with some famous names. Such as Cunego, Karpets, Gusev, Cesar Veloso, Pozzato, Peraud and Gadret. I think they´re all able to get a nice overall result just like Uran and Froome.
For the sprints, we have to take care about Guardini, Pozzato, Galimzyanov, Rojas and again Petacchi, who already showed an amazing shape so far. He´s the man to beat for sure. Let´s hope for an exciting week in Oman and hopefully some nice Sky results.

One of four quite flat stages in Oman will be held today. Petacchi had some great moments in Qatar a few days ago and he´s still in a good shape for sure. But Team Sky might be the strongest, when it comes to a bunch sprint. With Boasson Hagen we´ve got one of the best sprinters in our squad and he´s able to win a stage here.
With only 5 kilometres to go, there was s short attack from Elmiger out of the pack, while the sprint preperation was in process. Team Sky had the best train with Froome, Hayman, Thomas, Swift and Hagen. Also Petacchi saw that and took our slipstream.
Elmiger was brought back and the sprint was opened up by Geraint Thomas. His acceleration looked good so far but when Ben Swift took the lead we lost some speed. He´s just in his best shape at the moment. Because of this Boasson Hagen had to go on his own for a long distance, while Rojas and Petacchi just passed him with ease.
Petacchi took the lead with an incredible speed. Even Rojas and Pozzato couldn´t follow him and so the stage win was very close to Lampre again. Hagen was fighting against Förster, Veelers and Paolini for a Top 5 result. Great effort by Eddie, as this wasn´t an easy finish for him.
He is just the fastest right now. Petacchi also takes the first stage in Oman. Rojas came with a nice speed on the second position in front of Pozzato. Boasson Hagen made it up to a good 4th place in the end. Still a good opening stage for Team Sky.

Thanks baia!
Another stage race is starting these days. We sent a nice squad to Portugal to ride the Volta ao Algarve 2012. Bradley Wiggins takes his first race experience in 2012 as well but his shape might not be good enough so far. Therefore we´ve sent another climber with Siutsou. We´re going for the big win here but a small sence of achievment would be nice. There´s no real sprinter in our squad so we´re concentrating on the hilly stages and of course the time trial on stage 5, which might be the final decision.
The other teams are showing up some nice names here. Alejandro Valverde, Tony Martin, Hesjedal, Voeckler, Rolland, Poels or Sörensen might be the biggest overall opponents. Also the bunch sprints could be a nice thing between Ciolek, Van Hummel, Haussler and Marcel Kittel.

The first stage is not that hard with some hilly sections. So it´s nothing, which might be decisive for the final classification. We´re just taking control over the pack and stay in front with the other favourites.
A bigger group had the big control over this stage and it was for sure that they will search for the stage winner. Matteo and Lloyd were the most famous names over there with good chances to get the stage win.
And it just came like this. Lloyd took the stage easily in the final sprint. The whole Sky team was placed in the first part of the pack. So everything is still possible for the overall contenders.

Well, we wanted Nordhaug to get into this group, but the pack didn´t let him go, as he was maybe too dangerous.. But the next stages might be much better for us |

There´s nothing to say anymore. Petacchi is still the man to beat these days and we´re going to try it again and again. Eddie Boasson Hagen is an a good shape so far and his speed might be great as well.
Martin Elmiger and Staf Scheirlinckx made it pretty hard for the pack today, as they were leading the stage in the end when the sprint trains were ready. Thomas and Swift made a good job, bringing Hagen in the best position. Petacchi was just behind them.
Geraint Thomas finally brought Hagen to the front with only 1000 metres left and those two escapes in front. Cardoso tried to follow the Sky train just like Petacchi, who came with an unreal speed from behind.
It´s again Petacchi, taking the stage win after a strange accleration. Boasson Hagen improved his result from yesterday by 2 places. Good stage by him and his team mates. The third position goes to Pozzato again.

A really surprising situation was created today as Alejandro Valverde himself was in the breakaway after a solo ride over many kilometres. Our team kept the pace high as he was indeed a danger for the overall.
5 kilometres left and the pack was quite boring so far. Because of that, we decided to bring some action in there with Siutsou´s attack. Only the overall leader Lloyd was following our captain while the escapes were still in front by one minute.
Valverde was still there and he also had the best skills in sprint but he didn´t made it up to the front. Michael Rodriguez was the one, taking the lead with a good acceleration. The pack was only 30 seconds behind them so everything went good for our team.
Great stage win for Rodriguez and his team. Valverde finished on the last position in this group, which might be a very disappointing thing for him.
Siutsou and Lloyd had no success with their moves but they still got a nice Top 10 placement in the end of this second stage. Just Feillu got between them in the sprint of the pack. Siutsou is still in a good overall position while Lloyd kept his yellow jersey.

Just another flat stage before tomorrow´s stage will change a lot in the overall. Boasson Hagen already got some nice results in the last sprints but the win is still far away because of Petacchi. Maybe he´s beatable today?
Our sprint preperation was by far the best these days and it seemed that Petacchi and Rojas noticed that. They were just hanging on for the moment.
Lampre wanted to do it in a great style, building their own train for the last kilometres, while Rojas was still at Hagen´s wheel. Thomas and Swift did a good job today.
Unfortunately we lost a lot of speed at the final kilometres, which brought Petacchi a big chance to dash away quickly. Boasson Hagen was trying to come back.
There he goes! Petacchi is just unstoppable right now. Boasson Hagen came out of Swift´s slipstream with an average speed. Even Rojas had no chance to get away from there. Galimzyanov and Förster were just behind Petacchi, but the Italian was too fast.
It´s the third stage win in a row for Petacchi in Oman! Boasson Hagen managed another 4th place behind Förster and Galimzyanov. Rojas took the wrong wheel today.

We just go on with the hardest stage finish this week. A nice mountain arrival is waiting for our team. Here we can see, who is the one with the best shape so far. Uran, Froome and even Boasson Hagen might have big chances here. Is it hard to say, Petacchi isn´t winning today?
The first serious action was set by Brutt and Lastras. No one saw them as a danger for the overall except Team Sky. We´ve sent Rigoberto Uran to them with 4 kilometres to go. Great attack by Uran!
Chris Froome was the main support today for Uran before he attacked some metres ago. And also Boasson Hagen felt pretty good today, so we decided to let him go as well. Another successful move by Team Sky! Only Karpets had an answer to that.
There´s only a final kilometre to go for the leading trio with Brutt, Uran and Lastras. This is going to be an exciting sprint for sure. Who´s gonna be the new overall leader?
An incredible stage final by Pavel Brutt! Uran took the third finally, which is still an awesome result for us. And where was Eddie Boasson Hagen?
There he came. Right behind Karpets from Movistar. He took another great result with the 5th place. That means, we´ve got two riders in the overall Top 5 and there´s still an important time trial left tomorrow!
