@sutty, Hope we can do it
Our plan to send Hunt into the breakaway of today´s race, was very successful after some attacks. Simon Gerrans joined the group later and they had a nice advantage of 6 minutes. Team Sky had a pretty nice race in the pack, as many other teams had to work.
With about 50 kilometres to go, Jeremy Hunt was by far the strongest rider on the cobblestone sections. Simon Gerrans had no chance to stay with him. It´s a long way to go but the pack was quite fast, indeed. Even Cancellara lost the connection for some moments, but his team mates brought him back quickly.
The pack was almost there to catch Jeremy Hunt after an amazing ride. Well, done by him. Our whole squad in the pack was still full of energy while other teams had to work a lot to bring the escapes back. Now, the real race begins!
A bigger group was still together, when the last 15 kilometres were reached. Exactly this scenario was not our wish for the finish. Because of this, we took all in this card. Juan Antonio Flecha starts an attack with 7000 metres left. Hayman, Eisel and Geraint Thomas were also in this group.
It wasn´t enough! Flecha was caught unfortunately by Boonen and Leukemans. They sprinted very fast and for the moment, nobody could follow. Hayman was our last hope to get a nice result.
But then came thor Hushovd with a smashing speed. Boonen had no chance to keep it up with him while Flecha completely lost his speed. It was for sure, Hayman is our best rider today, just because of his great shape so far.
Hushovd takes an impressive win over Tom Boonen and Leukemans. Heinrich Haussler sprints on the fourth position and Matthew Hayman gets an awesome 6th place. Flecha, Thomas and Eisel are also finishing in the Top 20.

Maybe that attack from Flecha with 7kms to go was too early....but very good result from Hayman.

@All, indeed, this was a great ride by Matthew Hayman. He´s just in a pretty good shape already. Hope he can keep it until Vlaanderen and Roubaix.
Flecha´s move wasn´t good enough but it was just the first race on cobblestones so there´s still a long way to go. |

not a bad race.. maybe an attack on the cobbles and try to hold it for the rest of the way? :S just a suggestion but I'm not sure cause i aint good with the cobbles!! i guess you already had two in the breakaway tho!

Thanks! The last section was just too far away from the finish line so the big group had caught Flecha for sure. We had only Hunt in the breakaway. |

Thanks valverde
The second one day classic in Belgium is waiting for our team with some more cobblestone sections. But there are only three of them today, so I think there won´t be a decision with 50 kilometres to go. The chances are pretty good, that we see a nice bunch sprint today.
Mark Cavendish won this race in real life this season, but his shape was not good enough for that race. Because of this, we took another great sprinter with Edvald Boasson Hagen, who had a great month so far in Oman.
His team mates are pretty good at sprints, too. Geraint Thomas and Bernhard Eisel are going to lead him out on the final metres. Juan Antonio Flecha will try to improve his shape a bit for the big races in April, we don´t think there´s a serious chance for him today.
The competition is almost the same like yesterday in Gent. Cancellara, Boonen and maybe Marcel Kittel might be the biggest danger, especially the better sprinters.

As I already told you, a real chance for a decent puncheur isn´t very big today as the last cobblestones are far away from the finish. Our squad is ready for a bunch sprint and we´re hoping for a big end.
First of all, we´ve sent Ian Stannard to the front in today´s break. On the first section he was already alone, while no one of his mates could follow him. Poor guys! Back in the peloton, it was Omega Pharma and BMC, making the pace with still more than 60 kilometres left.
Our plan worked brilliantly so far. Everything was put together by the pacemakers in the peloton. This was exactly the moment, we were waiting for. Our team was placed well at the front with Hunt, Flecha, Eisel, Thomas and of course Boasson Hagen.
Last corner for the pack and Fabian Cancellara starts a short attack but our team is just too strong today. Eisel takes the front position of Flecha for the final lead out. Thomas and especially Hagen were looking amazing right now.
After a perfect preperation, Edvald Boasson Hagen takes the lead from Thomas while Boonen and Haussler came from behind.
Yeaaah buddy! Hagen gets the win in front of Tom Boonen and Heinrich Haussler. What a great team performance on the final kilometres. With an amazing lead out, we were able to get that great classic win.

Great win and compensates for unluckiness at Omloop. Usually it's tough to beat Boonen here but EBH showed him who's the boss
