Awesome presentation. I can't wait for the re-start of the story.
Oh, and I like the team. Mix of young and experience, really good for David's development.
Rest in Peace Wouter Weylandt and Xavi Tondo

As always ... Great Work
This made me laugh
"But most importantly, Contador. This guy can most likely get a GT win when he wants to."
Can't want to see David in action.

@ olabj - Thanks a lot. The team presentation took me quite a while, so nice to get that comment
@ Freitas - Thanks alot. Back a few weeks ago, I wanted to do something a little more extreme, but I dont feel the need to make the opening few posts amazing, although compliments like that are very nice to hear! Thanks! My goal is to try and build around the riders that are on the team now, and keep bringing in those TT riders.
@ Mresuperstar - Thanks a lot! Glad I could make you laugh, I think humour is an important part of writing, although I actually wasn't trying for it, in that particular sentence.
And just some news guys! I'm either pretty busy today, or cancelling my plans because I'm too sick, so I really doubt there will be any sort of update today.

January 14th, 2014
Hello, and welcome everyone to the grand opening of my new website! This year there will be some nice new features that will make it easier to keep track of my results. As well as that, I have decided to put in the teams biggest races of the season, because I support them, and I think its important.
This coming season, you will be able to see my current abilities and results on the first page, as well as important cycling news from the team and the rest of the world. I look forward to continuing my blog, and I cant wait to go to the first race of the year!
This years schedule is a little different than usual for me. I will be getting my first Grand Tour of the year, at the Giro d'Italia and I hope I can do well for not only myself, but also the team. I will be getting some cobblestone races in, so that hopefully I can improve there, and I finish the season off with the Japan Cup, a race I didn't get the privilege of defending last season. What I like about my schedule is that I will be racing a lot more PT races which means the team trusts me to help them gain CQ points on the season. I have 57 race days and I think a majority of them will be PT races. This motivates me to work even harder in training, so I'm looking to come out and get some wins this season.
I still dont really know what speciality I am, but like I have said before, I think if I can be strong everywhere, that will give me an advantage!

A very balanced schedule for David, and some tough goals. But very realistic in terms of the progression we have seen him go through. I hope that report means racing is right around the corner

Thanks a lot! I agree, David is starting to make steps into becoming a good rider that can get a few wins per season.
And it does. I want to play TDU tonight, and then have a quick report tomorrow.

Only one word can describe the whole presentation - awesome!
Love the new SpiderSky squad, the team presentations and, perhaps most of all, the new jersey! Everything looks great!
Can't wait for you to start racing! Good luck!

I'm so damn excited! Your schedule is really great (Giro, Omloop, Candian PT's and USA Challenge are some of my favourite races!), and the presentation is nice as always!
Bring on the reports!
Feel free to PM me if interested in any graphics work. |

@Pelli - Thanks a lot! Glad you like the team, I was worried it would be too overpowered, although it probably still is.
Glad you are excited for the season!
@ Teddy - Thanks a lot! It was fun picking out the schedule and I'm glad I gave David a chance at a GT.

@ johannes - Thanks so much! Its nice to see you here, and that comment is really motivating! I decided to take off, one of the stronger riders that I didn't find realistic, for Zabel. He'll kinda be the heir to Kittel.
@ freitas - Thank you! I hope he can, and with his stats growth he may be able to!
@ sutty - He does indeed That is a good assumption. He very well could unless Gilbert and Cunego show up like last year

Santos Tour Down Under Review
The 2014 Tour Down Under took off, in its normal route, that see's the race go through many of Australia's most beautiful cities.
The first stage was very exciting, as it meant the start of a new season for the riders, and the sprinters were especially excited as they want to show just how much their training in the off-season has paid off! The riders went from Geeps Cross to Clare and the stage was always going to end in a sprint. However a few riders still went into the break, but to no use. The sprint was hectic and the two Sky riders had problems getting to the front in time for the sprint. The best they could hope for was a podium spot. Greipel ended up getting the stage, and Kittel had to settle for 10th.
Greipel excited to get his season off with a win in stage 1
Stage 2 had a bit more drama thanks to the hills near the end of the stage, which saw two riders get a small advantage, one of them being Sky's own Ben Swift who finished 2nd to Tjallingi. It was a tough stage, but those two just caught everyone else off guard, and of course its nice to get a good result for the team.
Stage 3 was another boring stage for the real sprinters as a breakaway of 14 riders got away. Sadly Sky were not represented in the break, so it has to be seen as even more of a loss. Euskaltel's Ruben Perez won the stage thanks to a late jump that saw him get a nice gap back to his breakaway companions however no time gap which could have been useful in the GC fight. Luckily the gap was only about 3 minutes, and the riders had already been given leeway thanks to their GC position, so Swift and Uran are still safe.
Stage 4 saw yet another breakaway get the win! This time it was Sylvain Chavanel using the hill near the end to his advantage and getting a 37 second win over Rigoberto Uran of Sky! Shortly after those two, the rest of the peloton came in, but Chavanel had done enough to get the race lead!
Chavanel and Swift were battling it out on the final slopes of stage 5 in Willunga Hill and it was going down great for us, but Chavanel was clearly too strong, and took yet another win in the race, and already two on the season. Swift took another 2nd place and we can be proud of his finish. The Lotto team took it to everyone else for the majority of the stage thinking that Greipel or maybe even Greg Henderson could surivive the hill, but that was not to be. GreenEDGE also put in a big effort today, most likely for Tjallingii but it did not work. And even though he's ageing, Vinokourov put in a great ride getting 3rd.
United-Healthcare get a nice breakaway win in Stage 6
Stage 6 was another boring one for the sprinters like Kittel who just wanted wins, as a breakaway was given freedom, especially since they were of no harm to Chavanel's GC lead, which would mean he had won the race. However the race was still exciting for the spectators who saw an exciting sprint finish to newcomer Sheldon Deeny of UTC.
Final GC:
| 1 | Sylvain Chavanel | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | 19h03'31 | | 2 | Maarten Tjallingii | GreenEdge Cycling Team | + 16 | | 3 | Rigoberto Urán | Sky - Spidertech Procycling | + 51 | | 4 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | + 53 | | 5 | Ben Swift | Sky - Spidertech Procycling | + 55 | | 6 | Lars Boom | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | | 7 | Luca Solari | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | | 8 | Rubén Plaza | Cantabria - Saunier Duval | + 1'15 | | 9 | Maxim Iglinskiy | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | | 10 | Francesco Bellotti | Liquigas - Cannondale | + 1'24 |
