Indeed. That is the problem.
I just don't understand how they can make the chip stay in the centre of the ball. I don't think they'd have to. Put two chips at the exact same opposite, and by calculating the middle of both, you should know where the middle of the ball is.
More complicated it is, that the ball must cross the whole line entirely, for a goal to be scored. The rule is not "the middle of the ball beyond the posts axis".

Football is a game played by people, for people in the crowd or by the TV, officiated by living, breathing people.
Say NO to technology in football!
If offense is the best defence, does it mean that defence is the worst defence?

Agreed. Without discussion about wrong referee-decisions it would be boring.

It would be very hard for coaches cause they no longer would be able to blame the referee after every loss. |

Indeed. We're human beings and so are football actors (refs, coaches, players). We all do mistakes. You can't accuse the ref for losing a game, you could just score fair and square before or after. And even if that was case, it's just a game.

For me, there are not many of these incidents when it isn't clear if the ball crossed the line or not.
There are far more inidents of players pulling the shirt of another player, often inside the penalty box. There are far more cases of players diving, in order to get a penalty or get a yellow or red card for another player.
This kind of cheating annoys me much more than whether the ball crossed the line or not. |

So there you have it, a way to distinguish good referees from bad ones, by their abilities to see through bad acting, be at the right place at the right time, rightfully judge those kind of situations. Players score goals, referees make good disciplinary decisions.

Why use chip in the ball when you can easily use a couple of cameras. It's been successfully implemented in ice hockey and it would work just as good in football. Fifa just need to stop being so damn conservative.

We're not talking about good/bad referees, we're talking about a clearly blind linesman who missed first a 2 meters offside, then a fragging obvious goal. You can be a great referee, but if you are so blind you could confuse an elephant with an ant, then you should be looking for a job more suitable for you.

So when, let's use him for an instance, Messi, misses a one on one situation, you would instruct him to look for a more suitable job? I mean his job is to serve and score goals, and he probably missed a bunch of clear shots.
I know my comparison is probably a bit out of proportion, but the general idea that I'm trying to propagate here is that errors are an integral part of the game since the very beginning, and they've been happening for as long as anyone can remember.
Introducing electronic accessories and rigging the ball with sensors would be a step towards shaking the very foundations of the game, of the most important of all unimportant things.

I was obviously exaggerating in my last sentence, but imo referees commiting such big errors should be punished, for example, by not refereeing in big tournaments anymore, because it's quite obvious that only lack of attention can make him miss TWO very clear calls in less than half a minute.
As for errors being a part of the game since the very beginnning, yeah so what? Just because they've always been there we should accept them? Should we accept diving too? Because it has also always been there.

Hope Ronaldo hasn't scored all his goals against the Netherlands. The Czechs aren't easy though, and I think there's overconfidence over here...
