The first stage of the Tour de France is a long and difficoult prologue that will take place in Stuttgart. It isn't a prologue for the specialists but it is a stage that will win by a GC contender. It will do some gaps so the leaders must be presented with a good shape.

The Vuelta start with a very flat and suggestive prologue in Cadiz. It will be a stage for specialist.

The first stage of the Tour de France, that start in Stuttgart and finish in Karlsruhe, is very difficoult. It will do a lot of selection and much leaders could loss a lot of time. The climbs are very very difficoult: the Hochberg is a terrific climb with a average slope of 9.7% and a maximum of 17%! The last climb is very hard too: it is long only 3 kilometres but it have a avarage slope of 9%!

Start: Stuttgart
Sprint: Pforzheim
G.P.M.: Rotenbach(3° cat.), Kaltenbronn(2°cat), Hochberg(2°cat.), Ebersteinburg (4°cat), Freiolsheim(3°cat)
Finish: Karlsruhe

The first stage of the Vuelta is an uphill finish. There are many clims in the second part of the stage that will make a good selection. The GC contenders must will have to be careful to not waste time.

Start: San Fernando
G.P.M.: Aljibe(3°cat), Puerto de Galis(4°cat), Puerto de Algatocin(2°cat), Cueva de la Pileta(3°cat), Cueva del Hundider(4°cat)
Finish: Ronda

The second stage of the Tour de France start in Karlsruhe and finish in Epinal. It is very insidious: There is a climb in the middle of the course and the final is very nervous: there is the cotè of Haute Epinal (with a average slope of 10%) and the uphill finish that will create a lot of confusion in the group.

Start: Karlsruhe
Sprint: Strasbourg
G.P.M.: Crete de Myrtilles, Col d'Hermanpaire
Finish: Epinal

The second stage of the Vuelta is very hard. It starts in Ronda and finish in Antequera on a hill. The leaders will have to attack because there are many difficult climbs. The most difficult of them is the last: it has an average slope of 7% and a max of 16%. Certainly the stage will change the GC.

Start: Ronda
Sprint: Marbella, Malaga
G.P.M.: Puerto de Ojen(2°cat), Sierra de Mijas(1°cat), Puerto del Leon(1°cat), Arroyo de Coche (3°cat), Puerto de Villanueva (1°cat)
Finish: Antequera

The third stage of the Tour could allow riders to recover from the last three difficoult stages. In the final there is a mound(with a maximum slope of 10%) that could favor an attack by some finisseur or could make selection with some sprinter that couldn't win.

Start: Metz
Sprint: Verdun
G.P.M.: Rozèrieulles(4° cat), Ville en Selve(4°cat)
Finish: Reims

The third stage of the Vuelta is the first flat. In the middle there are some climbs that will make selection, but probably it will arrive in a sprint finish.

Start: Antequera
Sprint: Loja, Cijuela
G.P.M.: Archidona(3°cat), Puerto de Salar(2°cat), Puerto de Alhama(3°cat), Puerto de Agron(2°cat)
Finish: Granada

The fourth stage of the Tour start in Amiens and finish in Le Havre. It is a very insidous and nervous stage. There are a lot of hill (with an average slope of 5/6/7% and sometimes of 8/9%) that will favor an attack by some finisseur. The finish in haute Le Havre is very difficoult it is 1 km with an average slope of 8% and maximum of 10%. In this stage if a GC contenders will have a crisis could lose several minutes. There is a lot of wind in this stage!

Start: Amiens
Sprint: Dieppe
GPM: Fècamp(4°cat)
Finish: Le Havre(4°cat)

The fourth stage is the first mountain-top finish of this Vuelta. The finish is on the top of the Sierra de la Pandera. In the first part of the stage there are some hill, but it will be decided in the last kilometers. The last climb is divided into two parts, both hard. The second is the hardest and in it the road is narrow. The arrive is the same of 2003 and 2009. Here you will see who could win the Vuelta, even if it is very early.

Start: Granada

The fifth stage of the Tour start in Caen and finish in Rennes. It is a easy stage but there is the unknown factor of the wind that could create confusion.

Start: Caen
Sprint: Pontorson
GPM: La Hyguière(4°cat), La Fourcherie(3°cat), Juvigny le Tertre(3°cat)
Finish: Rennes
