Hence why he wins a fair few races. There are plenty of guys like him in the normal human amateur peloton, and while those kinds may annoy you (and me when I'm racing against them), they play their cards well.

And to use someone elses words, it's all about who crosses the line first, not who does the most, or fewest work.

He's not a neo any more, so while it'd make sense or could be a worthy tactic as a neo, it'd hardly work now (I know pro cyclists aren't too smart, generally-speaking, but still).

As for long races, last August there was another Paris-Brest-Paris. The total climbing is something around 10 000 m (like 6 times Alpe d'Huez). I think it'd be slightly too long though.

I could do 6 Alpe d'Huez, no problem. As long I only had to ride down.

Don't be too sure about it : back in 2006, when I went cycling there, on the first day we did les 2 Alpes in the morning, and intended to do l'Alpe d'Huez the afternoon. Two of us (me included) made it to the top, while the three others stopped after 5 km or something and decided to descend. One of them rode too close to a wall, his finger hit the wall, got opened and twisted, so he had to stop. Seeing it was a little serious he had a car stopping to bring his bike home (where we were staying), while he was taken to hospital for a little surgery and a couple of stiches. He was then out for one day.

Just to say that descending it 6 times is not guaranteed without any problem, from experience 5 km can be enough to take somebody out. Pfft

Feel free to imagine the WTF looks on our faces when we got the information the three others would not join us up there and one of them had to be taken to hospital.

The world fastest sprinter win on a flat course, made for fast sprinters. He have won Milano San-Remo, so it was almost impossible for Belgium to do something since Cav can handle the distance and thoose small "hills".

Great Britain worked their arses off for Cav. Woggins and Froome were super-strong yesterday.

The victory wasn't unfair.

If you hate Cav personally reasons, fine. But don't hate him because of how he became world champion. Great Britain and Cav did a perfect tactical race.

However, his helmet was very ugly, I can see you hate him for that one Wink

Am I the only one who actually enjoyed the entire race?
Spent the whole day alone, cooked some kung pao chicken, watched the entire broadcast on Eurosport.
A very entertaining afternoon.
