Wow, what an epic stage! Great final 2km. Froome definitely deserved the stage win. Hopefully Mollema can \gain that 24 seconds to Wiggins. Would be great to see a Dutchie on the GC-podium after Breukink in the Giro in "88 (or something like that)

Froome attacked at the hardest point. If you want to win that's where you have to go. Any later and he would have had no shot at gaining enough time.

I don't know if somebody has said it but here a funny fact.
Cobo is from a town less than 50 km from Peña Cabarga, but this was the first time he climed the hill.
Once he went walking just the first 3 km.

I didn't really want him to win in the beginning, but now since it's just him and Cobo, you pretty much gotta cheer for the underdog. Especially since he might never get a change like this in a long, long time. |

Just noticed, if it weren't for that time loss in the third stage, Menchov would be 3rd/4th... but then again, I don't know if the story was different.

From where came that explosiveness? Didn't expect such a powerful attack from Chris.
Mollema and also Anton looked pretty solid, so maybe second will take a stage win in front of Basque crowd and leave some mark at this years Vuelta.

He'd been 4th at 1'48.
But how many times have we told that story about Menchov? As Rabo-follower it was the thing you could get angry about... Menchov dropping time in flat stages and downhills. Tour 2008 is a good example.

It wasn't as explosive as it seemed though. Notice how he needs to keep going for quite a while to drop Cobo. Very different to a proper explosive attack (see Purito's attack in Cabeza de Manzaneda, for instance).
And yeah, it was about time for Antón to do something half decent, and I sure hopes he does well in the Basque stages, because I like him and, especially, for my fantasy team's sake.

No. Team Sky should be feeling guilty for messing up their TTT.
Indeed. Team sky should already feel guilty cause those 13 seconds are the one they don't took there. But if it really is 1", then the organisation should also feel guilty about there shitty roundabout yesterday.

Yeah, you you're right. But remember that Froome needed to drop not any regular rider, but Cobo, whose in pretty damn good shape. So I don't think that even Rodriguez in his first week shape would have dropped Cobo like he did dropped anybody on Cabeza de Manzanenda.

Awesome stage! Great to see a Brit winning a GT Mountain stage - first time thats happened since 1989! Froome went at the right time, I dont think he ever had enough to take the race lead, but if Cobo hadnt recovered then it could have been there. Oh well - at least Froome won the stage with that last gasp move.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and it was a shame Froome was working for Wiggins for too long. Who knows how it would have been in reverse though, Wiggins isnt exactly a great team player - and evidently not as strong a climber here, I cant see he would have done as much damage as Froome did. If anything, the shambles of a TTT will probably be the larger regret for Sky.

Yeah, of course. But it still wasn't a really explosive attack. Froome isn't really explosive, so he gave all he had in a continuous , but not really explosive (not surprinsing as he isn't a pure climber), attack, kudos to him.
