You can't help but wonder what might have happened in this Vuelta if Wiggins had worked for Froome rather than the other way round (only because of hindsight of course - you couldn't forsee that Froome would be so strong). Now for a very odd final week.

So, this is the last thing that can prevent Cobo from winning this Vuelta :

It cant be the same feeling... We have a brother duo that has been failing to win the tour the last 4 years...

But still. Froome is actually the suprise. He was pulling Wiggins all the way up the mountain and when wiggo cracked he still had the legs to go for himself... Kinda like Rolland

Make no mistake, Wiggins and Froome did very well today. Simply Cobo did better.

I hope Sky can spring a move in the next week because I really don't want this walking positive test winning the GC. Although it does have a bit of an Eric Caritoux feel to it.

The evolution of Froome is also ''remarkable''.

Sky need to sign Froome fast. They've made a lot of hype about a British TDF winner, and in Froome they've definitely found someone with the potential to be a contender for top 5/10. Yes, the field isn't brilliant but the way he climbed today showed that he definitely has a lot of talent.

Sky need to keep fighting. It's unlikely but you'll never know. And with Wiggins' big engine now working for him Froome can maybe launch something (unlikely I know)

Funny how so many accept Froome's efforts as normal, but Cobo, who has done and proven far more, is suspect.

I'm disgusted by some users double standards

Ha ha, where are now these all, who said that Wiggins and Froome just let go Cobo yesterday?

And if you talk about "walking positive test". Than I can make the same argument about the guy who rode track cycling his whole career or some Kenyan, whose biggest achievement thus far was stage win in Tour of Mauritius.

This, confront them with their double standards.

So tired of the constant suspicion on cycling boards. Guys like Vanendert in the Tour and Froome in the Vuelta are far more 'suspicious' coming out of almost nowhere. But I won't distrust them as long as nothing weird has been found.

Same as in the TDF when no one questioned Europcar's perfomance.

Cobo´s team and his past (being good in the year when Ricco and Piepoli won Giro stages) is what makes him far more suspicious, the fact that Wiggins was a track rider doesn´t mean he can´t climbWink
Froome´s win in Maurtania could also be seen as indicator of his talent as he was only 20 years old, but i have to agree that he is surprisingly (=suspicious) good.

Is there anyone else who thinks Menchov was the only one who didn't seem to struggle in the Wiggins/Froome/Poels group? I think if Cobo wasn't in that privileged situation, he'd attack...

Menchov struggeled on the steepest parts, or at leat to me Poels looked stronger there. Overall Menchov looked fairly comfortable though.

Yeah but unlike Wiggins, Menchov is a formidable team mate who doesn't claim leader roles if he sees a team-mate has the chance of winning the Vuelta.

Strong Monfort ! I hope Leopard will take some risk in the third week even if it's not their strenght (tour 2011!!) They have several strong cards to play (Monfort,Fuglsang, Zaugg, Rohregger...) Go for the podiumBanana
