You can set the sprint aggressiveness but everything else should not play a role in sprints.
There are three bars, the green, the red and the yellow bar. If any of them is empty before the finish line, your rider will lose contact and/or positions (assuming the AI did conserve the bars better for the best riders).
... and don't forget to use that gel when sprinting up.

I am not sure about the sprint bar in uphill sprints, but don't forget to use that gel when sprinting up.
You are mentioning a sprint bar, seperate from the red bar. I'm confused, I don't think I've ever seen such a thing as a sprint bar? I mean, on the rider interface I see the green yellow and red bar, as well as the energy gel icon. Am I overlooking something? What's the sprint bar you are talking about? |

Well there was such a thing in PCM 09, not in PCM 10 or 11? Which bar are you talking about:

For me, when I get the option to sprint, the rider menu changes. It removes the green, red and yellow bar and just gives me an option to select sprint style (aggressive/normal/fairplay).
I don't see any other bars during that time. When you say 'sprint bar' do you mean the sprint rider interface as a whole or are you actually referring to another bar like the green/yellow/red bar? |

I am confused by the two classic races, ardennes classics Amstel Gold Race and Fleche wallonne. The things they have in common is that they end with a steep uphill, and are according to me incredibly hard to win.
Le me just start by saying that I´ve never had the pleasure of having Gilbert in my team (Hill 84 in the daily VB 1 database) so usually I play with a guy between 79 and 81 in Hillstat.
I am pretty good on other races. The cobbles classics is my best area,(see my little guide in the beginning of this thread) but the uphill sprint is a big issue for me. What is the best way to win?
Scenario 1: There are a maybe 4-5 guys in the front and I follow the one I think is the strongest, by 1 km to go and hope to stick to his wheel and then overtake him with 400 something metres to go
Scenario 2: Same amount of guys but Instead of following the best guy I just have the dot, try to maintain the same speed as everyone, don´t followany guy but with around 400 metres to go I try to follow someone and then overtake him.
Scenario 3: I just sprint for myself and hopes for the best along the other riders.
It doesn´t have to be one of these scenarios, but previously I have tried nr 1 a couple of times and I don´t think I´ve ever won, but on the other hand I seldom have a guy spcialized for the ardennes classics.
So what successful strategy have u used? |

Well, yesterday i played Fleche Wallonne, and this was my strategy:
level: extreme, custom team with Marcato 79 VAL and Bakelants 79 VAL .
I made an attack with marcato in last 10 kms, but the peloton caught him, later, gilbert attacks at 5 kms, but again, peloton caught him. So, there is HUY, the sprint began and i put "dot" and 99%, Bakelants was in front, gilbert starts his sprint at 900 mts of finish, and in this moment i put Bakelants to follow him, at 400 mts to finish, i sprint and won the race

Did you have him observing other riders? The attack buttons are blocked when observing, and stay like that for a bit more time after you stop it.
