Hi!
For the last couple of PCM-editions, I've created this thread; namely "The Frustration Thread". Here you can post your most annoying, frustrating and painfull moments in PCM2011 and try to let some anger out into the open. The thread was pretty popular on the last to editions and knowing PCM and Cyanide, I think it will be just as popular this year too 
I'll go first; in a 5-day race (don't remember the name) I was going for the point jersey. After a couple of wins early on + some bonus points I had a reasonably good lead to my other competitors. I figured that the only way I could lose it would be if I only came 15th or worse or something and my closest rival, Hushovd, won both the remaining flat stages. Since I had a pretty good team and a decent sprinter I though it wouldn't be a problem.
So, on the second to last stage my train was working perfectly, I had even gotten a small lead on the other train and there were nothing in my way, I couldn't lose. I was just about to open the sprint with my leadout when suddenly the 3rd guy in my train fell! He suddenly toppled over and took out both my leadout and my sprinter! My competitor won it and I rolled over the line in 26 place...
Nevermind, I still had the jersey on the last day, but since I didn't get any points on the previous day I now had to finish no more then 2 places behind Hushovd. There was a bit of pressure on me but I didn't really worry, there weren't that many other sprinters in the bunch so a 2nd or 3rd wouldn't be a problem. My train wasn't as good as it was on the previous day and when it was time to open the sprint, there were 5-6 riders beside eachother on a somewhat narrow rode. I can see someone moving up beside my guy so I decide to open my sprint to avoid getting blocked in. Sadly, he can't accelerate fast enough and gets blocked in whilst Hushovd has a clear path! He eventually gets free, but can only manage 6th...

I was playing the other day and with only 5km to go I had a 5:00 lead over the peloton with a rider. The race got down to 2km and the game crashed!!! Very frustrating!

main frustration is PCM11 shows just how bad PCM10 was.....
but, the biggest frustration in my current game in 2012 is Garmin Cervelo's sprint train.......
First ---> Freire
Second ---> Hushovd
Third ---> Cavendish
Sprinter ---> Farrar
Cav is current world champ, so he has a lead out train of 3 world champions....
Needless to say, in the Tour of Qatar, Farrar took a clean sweep, winning every stage..

Nothing to do with the 2011 edition but more the game in general. All those bugs and patches!!!
And since the game haven't changed that much since i bought the first game (2003 or 2004) i find it hard to figure how this game still has all these bugs.

Just got Alessandro Ballan and George Hincapie injured to the end of march and middle of april. Just fucking greait. They will now miss Gent-Wevelgen, Ronde van vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix.

My frustration came with DB editing putting my own team in the game i followed all the correct things step by step but it would never work hours of forum post saying everything is correct followed properly but the maillot i got off the zip file was spelt mailliot instead of maillot well there is the problem lol after hours and hours of frustration i fixed it with a simple spelling correction !

Getting blocked online in mountain road races.
Nicely sitting in 2nd row and then the rider in front of you blows himself up and takes you with him to the back of the group. No chance of ever getting in front of the group again.
I think at least 25% of my online races get screwed because of this. Its just a horrible feature in a mountain climb. I can understand in a mass sprint, but on alpe dhuez? |

I was in Tour of Quatar and as usuall there was a strong wind. I had to send a guy down to get some water, all of a sudden the back got split in half and sadly my water carrier was in the group that was left behind...
I figured it wouldn't happen again so I decided to send a seconds guy down a little while later. What do you think happend? Excactly, the pack ot split up gain! At this point all my riders are completely empty and it wasn't untill my third try that I got one guy down to get some water for the rest. By this time most of them had all been flashing red for a while.
Annoying... but fun! |

I haven't noticed that. For me, they flash blue for a 1 minute, if no water, they automatically go to get a bottle themself. Very annoying, but realistic

Riding the first stage of the 2011 Tour de France in the PCMDaily DB (v1.0) and it comes time to sprint for the Intermediate Sprint point. This may have something to do with the lack of a breakaway, as my Lampre sprint train kicked in to gear I got blocked to the right of the road by the other sprinters. Where you wouldn't believe it but I ran right in to the back of the Race Director's and General Service car.
Talk about robbing me of sprint points, until the two cars got in my road I was going to win that sprint. Someone obviously had something against Lampre. Guessing the sprinters formed their own breakaway for a second during the sprint causing the cars to try and drop back, and get in my way because of it. |

Well getting blocked by riders does happen in the sprint game, but sometimes the line the riders look for doesn't seem as good as a real rider should.
I just want to say that for all the little frustrations of the game, I'm glad that the PCMdaily community exists. The people who get involved and create all these assets for the game are all Rainbow Jerseys in my book. It's kind of the only reason I bought 2010 and 2011 (cyanide just gets things started but the real work is done at PCMdaily.) |

Finished my The Tour with Sky and had secured the Green Jersey, so was going to go for the win at Champs with Bossoan Haggen.
Everything was going as planned, was on Tyler F wheel, and 5 km before the finish line I find out that there was a breakaway with 3 riders that was sprinting for the win!!! Was to focused on being placed right with Bossoan.
And I did beat Tyler F with no problem. |

Feel I gotta revive this one
I was in a stage near the end of the Giro and my leader had allready crashed twice during the first two weeks and was now too far behind to go for the overall win. Therefor I decided to focus on getting in breakaways and thus having a chance for the stage win.
After several failed attempts I finally got a good one going. With 35km to go and the break leading with more then 7 minutes I decided to use my guy (by far the best climber in the break) to attack on the final climb. So I did, and I tore the group appart.
By the end of the climb the other riders were gone and I could just cruise in and get a well deserved solo win. But no, with 6km to go my game crashes!
It seems I've been fingered by the cruel finger of faith yet again! |
