AI and the signing of young riders

I don't know if this is just due to something in my save but it seems to me that the AI does not sign any young riders. I'm just starting my 3rd season (so that's 2 full signing periods) and the only young riders in the game appear to be the ones signed by me. It's not that big an issue yet but unless the youngsters end up in the game (they don't seem to go to free rider status either, they just end up getting replaced by younger riders) every game will eventually bleed dry due to a lack of new riders to replace the old ones.
Hmm on closer inspection of my save game in the editor it seems that a few riders did manage to make the jump to the free agent pool (it seems after a certain age they get bumped there, a lot of new guys appeared at the start of season 3 that weren't there at the end of season 2) however none of the Pro Tour teams have signed a single young rider so far, that can't be right.

Is it possible to make the young riders sign with a team using the Fast Editor?
If not, then what is the column I'm supposed to look for in Lachi's, then I'll definately do some manual signing for the AI teams too. |

I've not been possible to sign them while they're still youngsters (I doubt that's even possible unless you copy them from youngsters to normal riders) but at the start of a new season a certain percentage gets transferred to the free riders pool, those riders can easily be edited into AI teams (just remember to give them a contract too) |

I'm guessing another way to do it too, is to sign a contract with them on your own team, then change the contract to another team. It's just a very boring job if you only have room for 2 riders on your team  |

Let me ask some questions, if you can help:
1 - Do any of the young riders get to the Continental Division Teams, after getting into the free agent pool?
2 - How do you put those free agents into teams if the game doesn´t do it for you?
3 - Does anyone know when the next patch is coming out? Any estimate, a.k.a. in days, next week, in August...?

The chances are hight that you have to start a new career after installation of that patch, so continue your career until then.
To answer the other questions:
1. Teams try to sign the best riders, so they would rather not pick young riders during the "normal" signing.
2. You have to edit the save. Tables to edit: DYN_cyclist (team id), DYN_contract_cyclist (add new contract = add new line)

I just saw an announcment in my career where team type 1 did sign a young rider...
No news of other teams however.
And in my 3rd season, I see team signing new young riders that trasferred to the free agents pool the year before. |

The game might find one or the other by accident, but the general function is broken. I think it because of the new regions. You could try it out by changing the young-rider-area-list (or how that column is called) of one team and link it to the new region table, maybe that would do the trick?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I've been looking at STA_Region and was wandering what the column gene_i_weight does? Does this relate to the amount of riders who are generated? I'm thinking it does as I've noticed all have values of 1 or 0 except Kazakhstan which has 10 and 3 other regions have 5s. This ties in to the game where Kazakhstan have a completely disproportionate amount of riders coming through their youth system. Can any one clarify this?

It could be like that but you should not forget that there is only 1 region for the whole country of KZA but France, Germany, Spain have many regions so the numbers add up.
Just try it out by setting 100 to China or something strange and see for yourself.

I have no experience in this, but I´ve seen that the region numbers start from 300 or something, and in the teams table, gene_ilist_young_area numbers go from 1 to 45, approximately.
I presume this 1 to 45 was the old PCM10 region list? And 300 and up is the new region list? Sounds like they forgot to switch basic code here... ahaha
To fix this bug, all I need to do is change gene_ilist_young_area of each team to the new region codes? Thanks in advance, cause if this is fixed I think I could do a career in this patch!
EDIT: DO I connect to ID_Region or gene_strID_name?

I've set 10 to Zimbabwe which produced about 50 young cyclists, so there's definitely an effect.
Incidentally many nations have a weight of 0 and will therefore never produce any young rider. Some of them are countries which do have a number of pros (like Venezuela, Costa Rica, Argentina, Malaysia)

See where your coming from Lachi, but all the regions in Spain add up to 12, France 12, Italy 8, Germany 7 and so on. Every other "minor nation" which isn't split into regions only has 1 (except for the US which has 5). So on this basis its suggesting a ten-fold increase in the production youngsters from KZA compared with Austria, GBR, Switzerland, Slovenia etc. surely this shouldn't be the case.
P.S a little experiment seems to show I was right about this assumption. Changed UKs value to 100, had well over 1000 riders located in this region compared with 19 when the value was set to 1. |

They are both "numeric" not sure what you mean there... ID_Region comes first on the table, but Im not sure which one to link to regen search! |
