In 2010 there was an option to have your rider hold thier position in the peleton and there is an identical button in this game but it doesn;t seem to work for me. My riders constantly drop of the back even with their effort put up to 99. Has anyone else experienced this?

They shouldnt be dropping off with 99 effort on. Make sure they are stocked up on water bottles, and it might help to use the relay button every so often to move them forwards in the pack.

This cannot be. Do you really say that they are dropping back even on a flat stage in the first km?
You need to give more info if you need help. Where? When? Which stages? Which riders?

Well if your guy is a bad climber and your in a mountain stage, it's normal that he drop back... however, if it's in a flat stage... you got a serious problem
Cause in mountain this usually happens to me but not on flat stages

I got the same problem yesterday

I have started a new career mode with a custom team and during the australian championship, it was not possible to my riders to hold their positions.

At 99%, keeping is place, Evans was not able to follow.
And with the effort cursor, 50% was enough to return near the head of the race !!!!

i have only experienced this bug with National championship races.. never noticed it in regular races... but in the Aus championship, i only had 1 rider present, do you have 1 or more riders participating?

yesterday I had 6 riders in the australian championship

At 99%, the % was blincking for evans ...... so i change in "effort cursor" 50% and it was easy for him to follow !

finally I won the race with evans but it wasn't really fun to play

Every rider seems to have a "natural place" in the bench at the start of a race, sometimes they even lose contact if you do nothing else than setting them at "hold position - 99".

However, if you give them another order and then back to hold position, they will hold their new position.

One exemple I noticed : if I have a rider at the back and i order him to take water, he will take water, go to the front to bring it to his team mates and then return to the back. If I give him a relay order (even during 1s) when he is at the front, he will stay there.

Also when you are protecting a rider and your protected rider attack, he will lose contact to the peloton. Just press relay button and then hold position button and he will stay in the pack

I'm agree with you that it's the normal way of working

but during my australian chanpionship, even when i put them at the first place, as soon as change the order to "keep your place", they nearly stop and loose contact with the others riders

The reason might be that there are too few riders in the race, so the game does not recognize them as a group. I never raced that race but I have seen other national championships where all riders where spread across the street riding for themselves. The new system of PCM 2011 might have broken national races totally but I never cared about these races, it is way to easy to win them (or get frustrated because you have no way to win them).

I don't think few riders is a problem.

Haven't done this race and never had this problem, but when I did the danish national championship with just 25 riders in total and my rider held his place without problem.
