Het Niuewsblad Press Release
Het Niuewsblad takes great pleasure to inform our fans today that today marks new era for Het Nieuwsbald and our Dutch co-parnter. We have been providing you with latest news everyday. Sponsored for past few years one of the biggest clasics in Cycling Calendar. We have decided to bring our game few levels up.
As such I am proud to announce new Cycling Belgian Team - Het Niewusblad. With our Dutch Newspaper partner Telegraaf we join the ranks of other professioanl cycling teams to compete. UCI has gratend us the licence to Continetal Division 2, but we plan to move up in next year.
Our team will be based on regional talents and well reknowed Belgian and Dutch riders. Our aim is simple, to qualify to the Continental Divsion. With that in mind in the transfer window we will focus on experienced Belgian riders as well as brining up Belgian stars of the future. Dutch riders will play key part team, but we can not at this time reveal much details about our co-sponsor Telegraaf goals and desires.
We again will like to thank our fans for their support, from the beginnings of the team to this point and we hope that we will make Belgium proud country when battling on the roads of eternal glory.
More information about the project will be released in the next couple of days.

Het Niuewsblad and De Telegraff are pleased to reveal to you our goals for this season. We pleased to attract the pundit and the bigggest star in Belgium and World of Cycling, Eddy Merckx to have a word about our goals.
Ronde Van Belgie
Isn't it obvious for a Belgian team to target Belgian race ? The race contains few gruelling terrains, including both cobbles, steep hills and the race of truth. And that's the terrains we Belgians exceel in. The win for this newly formed team won't come easy, but they have a big shot of winning it. That means that we have to sign rider that exceels at all of those terrains, and we have found one, the rider is expected to join the team but we can't reveal anything more than that.
Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne
Anotehr obvious goal. Though our managment is expecting much more than that from this race. Following the UCI rules we agreed to Top 10 result. Though our goal will be Top 3. We have found the ideal man for the job and we hope he will be another Belgian signing joining us. In case of the race not being too selective, we will try to get an decent cobbler with high sprtining ability, but all will be revelaed in the days to come.
Classics Consistency
One thing that all Belgians exceel at. Classics. Top 5 in 6 Classics is the goal, but once again we hope for more as the team will be based on the Classics rider. Thorugh our signings we hope to create strongest Classics team in the Division II that will be good enough even for Continental level.
Though we won't forget tough stage races, as we also want to bring few experienced French and Dutch riders to lead the team in mountains and let our boys learn the trade.

After yesterday’s revelation of Team Het Niuewsblad goals, we are pleased to get short interview with the Team’s Director Sportive, CEO, Maxime Verstraeten.
‘Many of our fans have asked this on twitter. What’s the next step in World of Pro Cycling after revealing your team goals ?’
Upon revealing our goals, we now have to concentrate on the transfer market. I am pleased to announce that everything is going according to plan. Myself and few of my closest colleagues involved in the team made shortlists or riders we want to get and are happy to announce that we have contacted four of them already, soon to be negotiating contracts with them. We will reveal the 4 riders in the news transfer section, tomorrow. The only hint is that they are all Belgian.
‘What kind of team you wish to create?’ Do you want to stay Belgian in way of Targeting the Classics as the most important and the rest of races as secondary importantce?
I think it is obvious from the goals we picked that the Classics are the most important to us. But don’t let that fool you as we will want to sign top climbers in our team to compete with the best in the mountains. The team will be strong at every type of terrain, that’s our goal. Targeting only one terrain isn’t really exciting and won’t make us the International team we want to become. We can’t reveal more than that just yet.
‘Will the team stay as an all Belgian team or rather regional team or will try to go international ?
We don’t want this developing team to stay all Belgian and in some way remain only regional team, that’s why we are looking to be versatile in our signings when the transfer window begins. We won’t depend on only Belgian riders, but we will sign riders throughout Europe that we feel will let our team develop and get Continental Division Licence for next year. We can’t reveal many details just yet, but we have two or three targets outside our neighbouring countries. One small information I can reveal now is that we will stay as an all European team.
We want our fanbase not only be regional, but international. This will take time to achieve but we are hopeful those days will come, soon we hope. And we can make the first steps towards that goal when the season begins, achieving our team’s target goals and winning the races. The fanbase will be really important factor to us and we hope that our readers will support us throughout the season, supporting us on the ups and even greater on tour downs.
Het Niuewsblad and De Telegraaf editors are also happy to announce a special addition to our papers. Weekly, the free magazine named rather unsurprisingly ‘Het Niuewsbald Cycling Team’ will inform you about our transfers, interviews, results and many other fascinating things that happen in the World of cycling in Continental Divison II.

The Three riders mentioned in the Maxime Verstraeten interview have been revelaed. Riders couln't report on back, but Maxime feels sure they will be joining the team for 2012 season.
Stijn Vandenbergh
Areguably the best cobble rider available at the moment in the market. Strong pucheur and great fighter add to the value and we will try to make him one of the early signings. Though he will need to fight to be our Cobble Leader as we want to bring few riders which rival his abilites.
Koen Barbé
Another great cobbler with ability to sprint. His high stamina and resistance make him perfect rider for tougher cobble races and his ability to sprint makes him great rider to win the lesser selective cobbled races. Perfect rider for our team who would be one of our more important riders, we still unsure if we sign him, if he would be a leader as competition is tough, but he will be a conteder.
Bjorn Leukemans
Bjorn after few levels at the highest Top has returned to low level of cycling, helping the development of young Belgian talents and helping new teams. He isn't as strong as he used to be, but still remains one of the best puncheurs available at this level. His experience and age will make his a very valuable asset and will help our younger talents develop,

Speculations, rumours and wishlists
After few peaceful days for the team, we are releasing new details about our project and how will the team try to look in the season coming up.
Targeting the advance to the Continental Division, we are focusing on signing riders with past experience that will get us this promotion. We will of course have few bright taletns in our team, but the team istelf will be dominated by more experienced riders, in the first season of this new team. As for that the deal hsa been struck with Delhaize Cycling Team , but we can't offer any details yet. Coming closer to the Transfer Window, more information will be released.
And coming to our team, we will present to you today the 13 riders that we are confindent/wishful in signing. As already mentioned by Delhaize DS Marcel, most of best Belgians took the opportunity and signed for B-Post, not leaving many riders, still we are cofident we can make sold core from our Belgians riders, especially targeting the Northern Classics, as there's seems to be lack of climbers and sprinters in the Belgian market, no help to Team B-Post
The wishful Thirteen
Our goal is to have all-round team and our shortlist represents that. We know it will be hard fight to get some of those riders, but we will fight for every one of them.
Starting, the shortlist includes 13 riders. We will try to have complete roster, but the 3 left are bit of dark guess yet, and we will wait and see how other team maangers wil try to sign those riders, we won't yet make any annoucments who they are.Cobbles
Starting off we have few Cobbled Specialists, Vandenbergh Stijn being the strongest one. Keon Barbe is another leader and should be vital in the 'not so tough cobbled races' with his good sprint stat. And there's still plenty for him to develop.
With few other great cobblers, we are obviously trying to create very strong cobbling team.
Time-Trialers
With Cappele and Kusters we hope too have two strong time trialers, but both very strong in hills as well, both of them being essential in the Northern Classics campaign towards our hopefully two leaders. Great all rounders and both hopefully vital to our team's succes.
Yvo Ksuters Time Trial abilities will hopefully bring us many great results. One of his goals this season is to win Ronde Van belgie.
Puncheurs
Van der Schueren Kenny and Björn Leukemans are the ones. Both equally strong and with good support we hope they can achieve some glory for our team. Bjorn will be vital as well, being the Team captain and giving our riders vital experience. Kenny will be great help in the mountains too.
Bjorn, will be our most experienced rider and great Team Captain.
Mountains
We go to our neighbour Luxembourg to find climber, after Schlecks brothers, Cycling boomed leading to development of new talents. One of the older riders, but still only at 26 being Kirsch Carlo. Strong rider on all important GC's parts, he will be our co-leader when the tough mountains come.
Few days ago, hinting that the team wanted to be more International, great prospect of being such team is that we could get decent climbers. Mancebo Francisco being a transfer goal, though if we don't get to sign him, it won't mean the end of world to us as there are few more climbers we will keep close eye on.
Adding to that strong French climber, Brousse Paul we should be competetive in mountains as well as we will in cobbled races.
Mancebo would play very imoportant role in our Mountain squad., as he would in any other team.
Sprinters
We come to the last part of the team. The Sprinters. The three names not listed are in fact sprinters. The only true sprinter we have hopes to sign and can reveal is Thomas Murray. Great sprinter and will fit our team perfectly. We already had a contact with him and we are very hopeful on this signing.
From Belgian persepctive we will try to sign Gardeyn Gorik. not being strongest sprinter but his experience, and his past lea dout experience, will make him perfect last man for likes of Murray and others.
Thomas Murray developed into one of most promsing sprinters in last few years

After period of silence from Het Nieuwsblad, today night the team will present their team. Adding to already 9 riders signed, the team will be added with 7 new riders, from various countries. As mentioned before we want to make our team International, and for that we signed 3 quality riders outisde Europe. More information to follow.
The presentation will begin tomorrow noon, as the team is awaiting final confirmation of the transfers.

Kurt Hovelynck
Discipline: All-Rounder
Kurt is our 8th and last Belgian to join our team. One of better all rounders in our team, he should be of great help in the lead outs and should manage well in hilly classics, cobbles and even some harder sprints.
Cédric Hervé
Discipline: Puncheur, Climber
Cédric Hervé is another great all rounder. He will join our two Hilly Classics leaders and will be equal leader to them, though he also is great mountain helper, he should be of a lot of help in mountains.
Marco Corsini
Discipline: Sprinter
Marco is the kind of rider we needed the most. Sprinter. Pure and simple. He's one of few others sprinters we managed to sign, and one of the better ones too. We will depend on him a lot in the sprints, maybe not the best but he will have great team around him.
Gilberto Sampaio
Discipline: Stage Racer, Climber
Arguably the strongest of our Stage Racers. High flat for a climber should help a lot, and with his high acceleration he should do rather well on the finishes. We hope he will get some top results and help our mountain leader for some top results too. Will play key role for us throughout the year.
Fernandez Rodolfo
Discipline: Puncheur, Sprinter
Het Nieuwsblad badly needed sprinters, the hilly ones as well. Fernando should do well enough, his climbing abilities and decent enough sprint should guarantee our team some success, as Marco he isn't the best in his category but our team should do good job of protecting him, considering we are one of the best teams 'on the hills'.
Stefan Radochla
Discipline: Sprinter
Stefan is similar sprinter to Corsini, not the best in bussines, but with the team support I will hope he will get few Top 10's and even a win or two. They know each other personally and their partnership might help us conquer bigger rivals.
And now we wondering outside of Europe into more exotic area....one in particular
Rubén DarÃo Laverde Velez
Discipline: Climber
Laverde is the best climber in our team. He's decent TT also helps, altough his stamina pains a little, we hope it won't matter much as he will have all the team support.
That finishes our 7 new transfers, later in the day we will present to you our 9 riders who had been signed earlier.
After lots of debating, Het Nieuwsblad decided to go for an experienced team so the manager can learn most from them. For the next season, we have 3 young riders on pre-contracts and we hope to sign few of the talented Team Bpost and Delhaize Cycling Team rising stars too.

I'm surprised that no one had signed Laverde Velez yet! Also it seems you've patched up the two biggest holes that your team had to some degree - sprinting and climbing.
And we will see what we can work out on a couple of my riders
