How much?
Lipton Ice Tea Francisco Perez Sanchez UBS - Annie Chun's € 1,600,000
100% ME Bradley Wiggins Pendleton's Twicer € 1,076,000
Lipton Ice Tea Elia Viviani Team Energie-Diesel € 800,000
Cafe de Colombia Mark Cavendish 100% ME € 1,200,000
Carmeuse Cyclisme Marco Marzano Sony Ericsson € 1,200,000

Hehe yeah, that transfer went a bit high, but I fucked up by agreeing on selling Ghisalberti before I had made sure to get Marzano. And I had to get him, would have been boring going into the Giro without a GC man. Anyway, it might turn out to be the transfer that gives me the PT win since the gap to Gazetta is that 500 points Marzano have collected. Pfft

Believe Vespa offered even more than € 1,200,000 for Marzano. Would have had even more to offer if Crommy had decided to sell him earlier in the transfer window. From what I remember he said he wasn't available then suddenly decided as the window was closing that he could do without him and sold him....

I'd have taken half the above for Cavendish but two managers really wanted to sign him and kept on making me better offers.....

Well, 100% Me had lots of money, and just the one big target. Sort of a no-brainer as to paying as much as required.

What are the feelings on the Tour of America for next season? Does the CT need a race like it?

I think 'yes' - but only if a minimum number of teams are reached. It's a mind boggling amount of time and effort to put in for 5 teams.

If the answer is yes, it has to then go ahead no matter how many teams signup

I'm sure nest season more teams will be interested in racing it. The problem I think was the lack of knowledge about how the race would unfold, but next season that won't happen given they npw have sort of a model to guide themselves.

The concept is really interesting imo so I wouldn't like for it to be canceled. Furthermore I'm probably going to be one of the interested parts by then so I want it maintained Pfft

I expect it to still be on the calendar. If we stick with PCM09 we definately keep it, and Thomas66 has made it for PCM10, so it will definately be considered if/when I look to build a PCM10 Man Game calendar.

If/when we switch to PCM10, ill stick up a topic where people can link me to interesting races that have been made to date.

But surely having two 21 stage CT races is likely to lead a greater probability of the problem of few teams?

There is this the issue of longer stage races simply having less points per race day attached to them. I am sure some teams would see it as inefficient to waste riders on such a folly.

As it happens with the Tour of America, Youtube and Tinkoff (Red Bull and Quiksilver to, to some extent) will do okay on that front.

Not that I entered the race purely for points - I went for it for flavor reasons - I am pleased to be there. It would have been nice to share the experience with more teams though.

I do think having six long stage races (Tachira, Colombia, San Luis, Chihuahua, Beance and America) in the Americas is probably excessive. Chihuahua, America and Tachira have been unpopular... this year.

I haven't signed up for Tour of America because I couldn't see out of the profiles how the race could be
I think the ToA could be a race like the TDF for the ProTour, maybe more points for it could lead that many many teams will sign up
Somebody should make out of the Deutschland Tour a real Deutschland Tour Grin I would definetly sign up!

I'd like to do it too - but I feel uncomfortable with the idea of Vespa riding a 21 stage race in America.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Here's another thought that struck me to add some spice into the contract renewals. The idea is this:

Let's say each team can have a press release to try and influence their No. 1 target for the transfer season during contract renewals.

Take Ginanni as an example. I decide I want to try and renew his contract and we start to follow the renewals proccess. Let's say Festina decide they would like a rider like Ginanni for the hills. SotD then puts out a press release responding to the rumours and says something like "Sure, we'd love to have him here at Festina - but he's a Vespa rider and we have to wait and see how renewals go with his team".

SN - as judge and jury - then decides how attractive a move Ginanni considers Festina to be. This could then add quite a bit on to the amount it will cost me to renew with him if SN decides he'd be interested in a move to Festina.

Each team would be able to do this once and multiple teams would be able to try and unsettle the same rider. In an extreme case 20+ teams might do it for Ginanni and SN judged he would be interested in each of them then he would most likely be impossible to keep as he'd be likely to walk away from contract negotiations. If only 1 or 2 of these teams were judged to be considerably more attractive to the rider than Vespa, then obviously I'd be able to resign him but probably at higher cost.

Same would work for just about every rider in the game - for eg. some of the better PT domestiques would make excellent leaders for some CT teams that are based in their countries.

Might add another dimension to transfers - though I wouldn't imagine it would result in people losing riders they really wanted to keep.

If we're talking minor increases to wages, then I wouldn't see a problem. But if we're talking even 2-3% increase, a top rider (ie, one targetted) would be raped wage wise. Plus it's open to abuse. Anyone who did it to me, would expect it in return for their most costly rider, even if I didn't want him. And if I got him, I'd sell him on for free, to a rival (to his original) team.

But, if you could ensure that the press releases were checked first, and the targets were logical (ie, SotD wants a new hilly rider to replace Sanchez, or fenian wants a new sprinter, cobble rider, and hilly rider to replace his crap ones) then fine. But otherwise you could see abuse coming into it.

That's why I'd suggest they be limited to once per team - and have SN in the judges chair. A manager could PM to say why the team is attractive / the manager on the defensive why it isn't and SN to decide on this or simply how he feels.

Pfft

It could be that each team, pre renewels have the option to send SN a "target rider" PM, which could go into upping the rider-in-question's wage demands. The defensive manager wouldn't even have to know, in fact, no one knows why riders demand wages anyway! so it'd just be another factor to add in. The manager who sent the PM would then have the option of whether to go public or not.

But the PM would have to have certain points covered, like you said, why the rider is attractive to the team, why not another rider - especially if there is one out already free (for example, why pinch Mehr-Wenige, when there is Wegmann out free already). Though that would require 2 releases of the DB for 2012, a pre-renewels and post.
