Another fantastic stage from Arashiro, as he sprinted in fantastically for 54th, just ahead of Leipheimer, Schleck and Vinokourov.
Already beating some of the best now, a result we'll see echoed in the mountains I'm sure

Well, it's those two old sports clichés, and both happen to be quite true.
On one hand, if he did worse than he expected and he was you happy, he wouldn't have the mentality to be a good pro athlete.
On the other hand, if he's reacting that strongly, that means the results are getting to him, and his performance is absolutely guaranteed to suffer.

Hold on, I just heard the first 53 riders will be disqualified for irregular blocking of Arashiro. So he wins the stage!!!
Fantastic result and well deserved. Good decision by the jury.

In my opinion, it's only a good sign. He shows his winning mentality. Besides that, he has to feel sorry for his hardworking teammates. |

And now on a different note:
Those of you saying Cavendish lost because he's somehow worse over 350m than 200 or 250, look at the sprint again. Petacchi went at barely over 200 to go. You also weren't saying that at San Remo last year.
Those of you saying that Cavendish lost because he was surprised, look at the sprint again. Cavendish accelerated and and no moment did he even equal Petacchi's speed.
Why that happened, is a different question and i'm sure everyone also has their theories
Watching the sprint again, Cavendish was faster than everyone but Petacchi, so I really don't think it's a physical problem.
He'll win stages. May very well win tomorrow.

Yeah it helped Petacchi that he was on the complete opposite side of the road. Last year Farrar tried the same thing but right beside Cav.

Well, surely thats entirely because Petacchi went first? When the 2 were alongside each other, Petacchi was going faster - and while Cavendish then acclerated, its not as if Petacchi had stopped accelerating.

Haha I was watching eurosport and flicked to ITV during the break and they thought pilusckin (can't spell) was kolobnev. What a bunch of tools so then I sat and watched the adverts after that. I hate ITV commentators
they just said that david millar wore the british champions jersey on the podium in the tour in 2007
Cav just didn't have it today. good win for pettachi but i'm sure there used to be lots of better sprinters. maybe it's a selective memory. |

2 riders in top 5 for Garmin with none of them being Farrar. Impressive ride by Dean!
Hagen blocked and still came 3rd, shows he can be up there.
Seemed to me like Cavendish and Hushovd were left alone too early in front..

Rewatching the sprint today, even before Cavendish gave up he was already going backwards, HARD.
He didnt even match the speed Renshaw had before he stopped working.
Cavendish completely lost his speed
