This season is gonna be epic. I hope that Force India can continue to progress. They have been pretty competitive on the tests. And I think Button can do better than Hamilton, he has only once before been in a car capable of winning the championship and then he won it.

It's finally here Smile

It should be a very, very interesting season, what with the rule changes and new teams.

I voted for Vettel, but it's an incredibly difficult decision. Vettel is such a great talent, but I'm not sure if the rule changes will suit him, because I know he's hard on tyres, and tyres are going to be so important this year with no refuelling.

It's great to have 4 teams which supposedly are going to be very evenly matched. Some of the battles could be epic: Button vs Hamilton, Hamilton vs Alonso, Alonso vs Schumacher etc. Even Sauber might be up there in the first few races (and probably drop off).

I hope the new teams improve though, because at this point they effectively have their own class, although we don't know what HRT are capable of. It definately looks as though we have 3 team battles:
1-4 Mclaren, Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull
5-9 Force India, Sauber, Renault, Williams, Toro Rosso
10-12 Lotus, Virgin, HRT

The way I see it at the start of the season (and it's always hard to guess), the Ferrari is slightly faster than the McLaren in qualifying, but due to fuel consumption issues, it'll be much slower in the race.

So this should be a good opportunity for McLaren to start building a lead while Ferrari struggle with fixing that problem.

However, if they manage to get their radical rear wing approved, McLaren will have a major advantage, as it'll make the car very quick in a straight line (and thus they'll find it easier to overtake and will be almost impossible to be overtaken).

And of course Mercedes is the wild card. They can be anywhere from 1st to 4th fastest.

All in all, Red Bull seems worse off of the 4.

But I just want an exciting season, and that one of the nice guys (Vettel, Massa, Button) wins the championship Smile

Stopped watching F1 when Schumacher retired. Think I might follow it again now he returned.

there is lack of finland riders in F1..no reason to follow this season for me.
Who else I can cheer..Schumacher?..Alonso?..no thanks.

You don't need to cheer anyone. I usually don't.

But yeah, I'm very excited about this season, it seems it can be really good. Actually, after the 6 race long season of the last year anything will be really good.

As for who's gonna be the fastest this weekend, my bet is for Hamilton, specially if McLaren's spectacular rear wing is approved. According to someone of Red Bull, the Mercedes engine is the one which consumes the least fuel, so that's gonna be a BIG advantage with no refueling.

And I really want to know where exactly Mercedes GP is. If Adrian Newey is a genius, Ross Brawn isn't far behind.

Oh dear, I love this week. I'm regretting that I'm not recording it on video. :\

They're not using the wing this weekend, as they don't want to risk being disqualified.

And the Ferrari is the opposite. It uses up a heck of a lot of fuel. The Cosworth is rumoured to do the same.

True, but Brawn has nothing to do with designing the car Pfft

The very erratic Löic Bigois is their designer. Sometimes he designs amazing cars, but more often he designs crappy ones. He's quite a boom-or-bust designer.

I'm not going to watch any of the sessions live. I'm downloading all the sessions later, to watch, from a certain site (as soon as they have transmissions from SpeedTV, which have by far the best commentators).

I can give you the link if you want. All you have to do is do the same thing I always do: avoid the news until you manage to see the race Pfft

Ditto...basically, lost interest because F1 is also about the drivers and their characters...Piquet, Mansell, Prost, Senna, Schumacher all are (were in Senna's case) great characters and made you want to watch. My only interest of late has been seeing the progress of the Piquet, Rosberg and Senna generation 2...
The return of Schumi is like the return of Armstrong is in cycling, huge ww publicity exposure for the sport. If the mid-40's Shumi is successful then FANTASTIC.

As to hoping one of the nice guys win the championship...boring....Alonso or Massa if you please.

And yes I am old enough to remember the Senna's and Prost's.Wink

I get what you're saying, but to be fair, the only thing I enjoyed about the junior versions of Piquet and Senna was their stupidity Pfft

They were amazingly arrogant and each of them had some truly entitled behaviour. So it was funny to see them fall flat on their faces time and time again. Especially Senna in GP2.

I'll never forget their arrogance and hipocrisy. Two moments in particular, one from each of them:

"Bruno Senna doesn't have any talent. He only got where is because of his name" - Nelson Piquet Jr, son of triple world champion Nelson Piquet Sr.

"I wish my name wasn't Senna. It's been a big weight pulling me down. It's not easy" - Bruno Lalli. Who makes a point of having everyone call him "Bruno Senna".

Hypocrisy much?

God that HRT team is depressing

They spent all their time so far still building their cars (yes, you heard that right). Chandhok's car MIGHT be ready for tomorrow's qualifying.

While Senna's car was ready....or so they thought. A wheel fell off it on the first corner

The usual excitement ahead of the F1 season. Right now it seems like at least 4 teams could be battling for victories - and hopefully it stays that way - with no dominant driver or team.

Just so long as Button destroys Hamilton ... Pfft
