Contador was once again among the best in the Muur. Incredible.
I wish that'll inspire G.T. organisers so that they include some more cobbles (including hills) in the coming years.

Rabobank har had a good period after the tour. Impressive stuff from the team, after a miserable first half of the year.

Really enjoyed watching Contador back in action. He really proved what an allround rider he is today.
Boom definitely the strongest though. Deserving winner.

Bakelants deserves a victory by now. Always attacking, I like it. Pity he was alone.
Good stuff from Contador and Boom. Smart racing from Ballan. |

Well done to the race organisers for actually making the race moderately interesting on at least one stage.
Seeing how strong Contador was on a stage like this with a course that, on paper, didn't suit him, should make anyone who thinks that he won't win the Vuelta think twice.

One has to do with another.
Doing bad in the first half keeps them hungry. While succesful teams and top riders are done with their season, saturated with all the victories.
Last season Rabobank started fantastic in the first three months and then sucked in the latter half (until the Vuelta recovery by Mollema)

Boom will win the Eneco Tour, he's 2nd, on 4 seconds.
EDIT: probably also won some PCM $
He was dropped on the Muur, and they'll still climb "another Muur" 5kms from the finish.
Let's wait and see

Agreed, he's pretty much the anti-Andy
I thought the same as you at the moment it happened. But in hindsight, Boom was smart by staying behind his teammates and counting on the last climb.
Contador might have over-exerted himself with that attack earlier.
And I think Lars Boom only has 1 real 'cartouche' in a race. Just like in Paris Roubaix, after that attack he couldn't keep going and eventually lost. And in London he was saving his attack for the sprint, which didn't work out. And if he went with Vino/Uran, he'd probably end 3rd because of his 1-attack max

I expected a lot more from OPQS, at least an attack from Chava.

Andy has 20. It's easy as anything to pass him
(if you want it more detailed, 135. 1st in any 1.2 race, 8th in any 1.1 race, 11th in any 2.1 race or 20th in Eneco Tour would have been enough as well )
