This is specialy for stage builders the like to work with google earth. Everything i discribe here will also work (better) with an original *.gpx (GPS xchange fomat). But at the beginn i show everyone how to do it with google earth.
Part 1: Things we need
===============
Google Maps -> https://maps.google.com/
GPS Track Analyser -> https://gps-freeware.de/download.aspx
GPS Kicker -> released soon
In Google Map you design your route, and at the end press right/top a little bit over the map LINK, a small windows pop up, copy the first line, open a new browser window, paste the copied line and add '&output=kml' (without '') at the end of the url.
Press return and same the created *.kml file to your working folder
Start GPS Track Analyser and Open the created *.kml file.
In Menu Trackpoints-bearbeiten select SRTM-Höhendaten zuweisen.
A Window opens and you get a lot of informations you have to follow.
This part of the tool adds the missing altitude to our google map route
The only problem is now we dont have this information local on our pc so first we must download it from a homepage like https://netgis.geo...tm/Europe/
At top of the window you see which files are necessary in this case, download it from the url you like store it in a folder (and unzip it) you like and and add this path in the line the tool need.
Remember dont delete this files you need and can build so your own library.
If all files are in the folder press refresh (aktualisieren) and the button SRTM-Zuweisen will get enabled.
So Press the button and abra kadabra we get altitudes to our profile.
If you get more then one section in this route you must do it for all the section.
Still remember at the beginning it needs time but in future it goes very fast.
At the end Save As a gpx file in your working folder.
Now we have a gps track with all infos we need.
Part 2 : GPS Kicker

Not every heightfile is working on your link, so I searched for another:
https://srtm.sjti....
And I'm going to try it right now. |

Unbelievable. The profile is almost perfect, because there are only whole '%', so for example no 6.4%, only 6%. Could that be changed? That would make the profile really perfect.
The waypoints is another point. I've got a very hard route (lots of curves which can't be generated by PCM on a normal way), so I was really looking forward to the waypoints. My first opinion was: rubbish. Then I rendered it and looked better to it... Rubbish? No. The tops are on the right place, there aren't any (!) bugs (maybe it's just the route, but still), so this looks very good also.
Only 1 problem: You can't use a map anymore, because then you have to twist and turn it and things like that, because the route is already generated.

Fixed small things in V06B.
First the whole route starts now with x=0 y=0.
Add 4 Parameters
Reflect X ('n') = mirror's X coordinates if 'y'
Reflect Y ('n') = mirror's Y coordinates if 'y'
T1 Faktor ('100') = T1 Faktor checked if the neighbour coordinates range is in this value we kicked this waypoint
T2 Faktor ('100') = T2 Faktor checked all waypoints if any waypoint range is in this value - if yes we delete this waypoint.

Now the waypoint numbers are incorrect
The other one was better I didn't have any problems with the waypoints.

The waypoint numbers are correct # is only a placeholder.
If you press ToXML # are get there correct number in the xml file.
T1 + T2 Faktor can be set to '0' so you have with the new version the same results like in the old one. But with T1 + T2 set the programm like to remove bad waypoints.
You can try it with differnt T1 settings and you will see that it helps a lot.

Hmm, yes, that's right, it worked even with the #.
But, in my opinion the old one was better than this one. This one has to little space between 2 waypoints, not that they're to close to each other, but StageEditor doesn't make a right 'map' of it. So, you can't edit it on a right way, but it still works.
Let me clear it up.
When you open the .xml in StageEditor, you see a 'map' of waypoints, roads, etc. If the spaces between 2 waypoints are very low, then you can't edit them, because you would (for example) add 1.00000 x, even if it only needed 0.00100. So maybe you could stretch that.
And another point: my route starts at 0.0, but now he goes to -x and -y, because the route is going to the nord west. I don't know if that could be editted. |

under reflect x/y you can set if latitude or(and) longtitude will be mirrored
n = no
y = yes
j = yes |

That doesn't work with me? If I put it before calc, after calc and before to xml, both ways doesn't work here. |

with higher settings in Lat & Lon Faktor you get higher spaces between the waypoints.
Can you send your gpx file to me - to check it here |

Slope Meter = 700
Lat Faktor = 2
Lon Faktor = 2
Refl.X (n/y/m) = y
Refl.Y (n/y/m) = y
T1 Faktor = 40
T2 Faktor = 40

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have the contours and the KML.
This is a zip file with both the HGT and the KML file for the Commerce Bank Reading Classic in Reading, Pennsylvania.
https://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=bd...b9a8902bda
If someone could please help me make this stage 1:1 or at least point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

i didnt know whicjh tools you use.
i use gps-track-analyze.
So unpack your hgt files to a folder you like and set the path in the red surrounded field.
If all needed hgt files are in this folder the green surrounded button should work. (In german version you can force a refresh with "prüfliste aktualisieren".

The files its says I need is a very huge list, and the numbers of the coordinates stretch so that you can't even see them, try my files and you'll understand my problem. |

Hi!!
It works perfect see picture and xml file.
1) You send my the wrong hgt file (gps tracker needs N40W076.hgt not N40W075.hgt you send me)
2) See the excel screenshoot
3) For small routes its better you change settings in Slope Meter (i used 300) than press the small button to transfer the 300 to all positions otherwise if its empty tool uses preference setting from 700.
4) Watch out Lan and Lon Faktor i set it to 10 (this settings calculates the distances in stage editor)
